Not surprising comments or stats below , this season he hasn't helped himself (international prospects ) or us . Michel Vorm In WhoScored's Premier League team of the season in his debut campaign, Swansea's Michel Vorm has seen his form dip lately. Rated at just 6.49 this season, he is WhoScored's worst-performing 'keeper in England's top flight with at least 20 appearances. Having saved only 61.7% of the shots on target he has been tested with, he is providing very little resistance as the last line of Swansea's defence, and he has the players in front of him to thank for the fact that the Swans only allow their opponents an average of 4.2 shots on target per game. Swansea have the fourth-worst defensive record in the Premier League this season and, but for their goalscoring record, might be even more heavily entrenched in a relegation battle.
It is annoying that with just 4.2 on target shots per game we end up letting in silly goals. 4.2 is extremely reputable.
In fairness to Vorm, many times our defence has gone to sleep and left him alone, with pretty much no hope in hell of saving the shots. I mean shots from 5 yards out that are not just little taps, but they get so much space they can get full power behind it, which means Vorm has little to no hope. Or the many times he is left 1 on 1 because our defensive line fall asleep? For me our keepers have struggled not because of poor form, but through the inability to shut up shop from the 4 guys in front of them.
I agree to a certain extent but he doesn't appear as mobile or quick thinking as we've previously seen , a few goals we've conceded have been scored with no attempt at movement from him making him look flat footed ,I still think he's a good keeper and maybe as the squad improves it's confidence this we will see more of the old Vorm ,I do hope so .
http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2012/...ls-highlights-2012-michu-dyer-sinclair-video/ The video on this page, the save that Vorm makes when we are 1-0 up. One of the best one-on-one, point blank saves that I've ever seen. It's my favourite save from Vorm. Unfortunately, I wouldn't back him to make the same save now. However, half of a point-blank, last-ditch save is the attacker getting the heeby-jeebies in front of goal. But it can be argued that the reputation of a goalkeeper can help create that doubt in an attacker. Currently, forwards know that Vorm isn't on form and are taking a deep breath and slotting the ball home. He needs to make a few top drawer saves for forwards to start doubting their ability to score against Vorm in these one-on-one situations!
I think Vorm has been a class keeper for us in the main but this season has not been one of his best imo. He has been lacking with one on one and he has been caught off his line more than usual. He is a top keeper with his mind elsewhere this season and it looks as if he will be going back to his home country at the end of the season. I hope we see him up his performance during these last few games before he goes home...
