As a few of you have read I saw Coldplay as my last gig, but next one is the Wurzles. But my favourite gig was U2 when they had the Killers backing them up. Who was your last, your next and the best gig you saw?
Never been to a gig.... Just thought id have my input, although i did see lee evans, and he sang at the end
First Gig......The Kinks Favourite Gig......The Rolling Stones Last Gig......Everly Bros/Bobby Vee ( 60's revival and most enjoyable)
Don't get to 'gigs' (hate that word!) these days, but in the dim distant past my best were Bo Diddley at the Corn Exchange, 'Little' Stevie Wonder and Ike and Tina Turner, both at the Locarno; and very recently Jerry Lee Lewis at a mini-concert promoting an album in New York. On the same trip I saw the Crystals and the Tokens at an open-air show on one of the Hudson River piers. I also used to go to the Colston Hall to see the Larry Parnes stable of artistes on their regular tours (Billy Fury, Sounds Inc., etc) Four Tops and Neil Sedaka at the Albert Hall in the 70s were good concerts too.
49nr,I saw the Kinks,Searchers,Manfred Mann and the Who in the Corn Exchange, suffered the ink stamp on the wrist pass-out,so we could visit the Rummer or Cellar bar for a drink, another regular haunt for me was Disc's Ago'go at TWW,saw loads of people there including Barry Mcguire......great days...
Last Coldplay.--- stunning Before that -- the Communicators at The Tunnels. Before that -- Snow patrol -- Colston Hall with a full orchestra -- brilliant..
was lucky to see ziggy period bowie at colston hall and pink floyd at the hippodrome, last was ian dury in croydon. best were dr feelgood at the roundhouse circa 75, looking forward to tomorow seeing slim chance,- ronnie laines old band at chislehurst kent.
wize...Corn Exchange was a great venue....was it the Bristol Chinese R&B Club? (nothing to do with Chinese!). Fantastic acts...I think I remember Long John Baldry and also the Pretty Things. Electric atmosphere and fearsome bouncers!
First gig Uriah Heep at the Colston Hall Last gig Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgod) at The Fleece Best Gigs - Fish at The Thunderbolt last Summer, Rainbow in 1975/6 and Blackmore's Night in 2005 at Reading
To answer fully, First gig - The Ataris Last gig - Motorhead Best gig - Hard one, but probably Queensryche at Colston Hall a few years back. Fecking awesome
Meat Loaf at the NEC was brilliant. Surprised he didn't have a heart attack then!!! Many years ago Sonny and Cher 'I got you babe' in TWW studios.
I can't get over the amount of long-haired greasy jitters on these boards! Last gig: Janelle Monae at the Academy Next: Dodgy, Selecter and The Christians at the fabulous North Nibley Festival in a few weeks, or proper gig will be Radiohead and Caribou at the O2. Best: So many to chose from: Either Rolling Stones at Ashton Gate ( ) in 1981, Beta Band at V in 2002 or any Chemical Brothers/Groove Armada - seen 'em both loads of times....
