Well the news today seems to be that Steve Lovell won some golf competition so how about a rare non football thread? Had my fav track playing on computer this afternoon - Link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hIF81M0yQA Volume up so walls are jumping If you had one song to play down Valley what would it be? AllHell
A bit of Deep Purple would sound good on the PA. Smoke on the Water or Highway Star would go down a treat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE_JQXHszHg&feature=related Got in from a real bad week at work - lost a long-time colleague and dedicated family man way too young - and started playing music to match my state of mind, which is as angry as hell, so this is a bit more aggressive than usual - Michael Monroe on vocals, Steve Stevens on guitar and three minutes of snarling punk magic. Very cathartic.
to insert a video, click on "Insert Video" button and then paste the link from Youtube saves people having to go to youtube all the time Ahh, OK link doesn't seen to work from youtube??
Sorry to hear of your friends sad passing, Tewks. Everything, and I mean everything, that Monroe and Stevens touch turns to Gold. Have you heard the latters Atomic Playboys? - Pure Genuius. The Hanoi Rocks should have ruled the world but their success was limited for some bizarre reason.
It is a blow to lose someone with such a kind heart. My wife's mother died in March of this year at a very young age - she was a real treasure, one of lifes gems. But there can be comfort in knowing that they left behind a legacy of goodwill, friendship and love. Gifts that no mere mortal bestows freely. Only angels do so.
Haven't heard Atomic Playboys for years, have you heard the Stevens' 'Jerusalem Slim' album? Check out the solo on this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_y2DkrdZso He also contributed a wonderful second guitar to Steve Lukather's track 'Fall into Velvet' off his s/t solo album - one of my favourite tracks ever. The fireworks start on the extended outro at around 5.30, Stevens on your right hand side, Jan Hammer in the middle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV9TBNRnBXI Hanoi Rocks never really recovered from Razzle's death and some of the latter stuff after they reformed is absolutely dire. Monroe is still performing regularly and eerily, doesn't seem to be aging. Either it's that picture in his attic, or those heaven-sent cheekbones.
Thank you, Tewks. Just a few words of comfort in what I can imagine is a difficult time. Great songs posted there. Yeah, I love the Jerusalem Slim sound but the Rocks will always rule for me. Monroe does look good, eh? It is all that fresh Finnish air. Besides, he never really got into the heavy drugs or booze. I went to Razzle's grave on a recent break to the Isle of Wight. A long way from Redondo Beach.
Smart track, Kish real tight band he's got there - am I going bonkers or are they playing in a multi-storey car park? Never knew that about Razzle, PE. We live and learn.
Thank you AllHell. Didn't mean to sidetrack your thread BTW...I'll be back to what passes for normal once I can get rid of the anger and sense of injustice and just be sad - as Anthony Aloysius St. John Hancock once said, "Stone me, what a life."
It's on the Southbank Tewks, the barbaric concrete architecture... Every time I pass I hope he might be busking but alas...
