Apparently this is being revisited by the papers because QPR seem to be interested. I feel like others that he probably won't add much to our team and anyway he said he would never play for any club but Man U.
I haven't seen anything (and I really can't be bothered to go looking for it!), so is he preparing for this January thing again? Is he an exception to a squad place?, if not, I can't see it...even if he can cross a ball better than Lennon!
Depending on what his wage demands would be I wouldn't mind having Beckham around to be honest. His game has never been about pace and the pinpoint crossing/ passing he's famous for will never really leave him, ideal for the likes of Adebayor and the centre backs from corners and set pieces. The younger lads would probably benefit hugely from him too.
Much as I admire his skills it would benefit the team more if he was just around at training, as I really wouldn't want him taking up a valuable squad spot.
I think it will depend on how valuable that squad place actually is. With Alnwick unlikely to feature, I'm pretty sure Harry would replace him with Beckham if Brad, Carlo and Gomes are all fit. Also depends on our position come January, if the squads looking good and doing well, injuries are at a minimum and whether Harry has any specific targets or not, then I think Beckham's addition to the squad would/ should be welcomed, I still feel he has something to offer on and off the pitch. I'd also happily see Beckham replace Pienaar too, not only is the guy picking up too many injuries, he hasn't impressed me one bit since joining.
Regardless of football issues here, Cone Heads eyes will be like this... http://st-listas.20minutos.es/images/2009-06/115552/1585352_640px.jpg?1251674437 ... thinking about the commercial revenue off him.
It's as if the papers have one of two Spurs stories they rotate every couple of days: Beckham signing, or Modric leaving. Somebody needs to hit the reset button on their headline generator, as it's been stuck in a loop since about February 7th.
They're trying not to make too much of the Olympic Stadium stories, because that would mean having to admit the OPLC are a bunch of corrupt, money-grubbing shysters that do what Seb Coent tells them to do...
This wouldn't surprise me in the least. Levy would love the commercial aspect of it and Redknapp would love to have another public figure pushing for him to get the England job. If they could get Dos Santos' value up a bit by playing him in the cups between now and January and then ship him out to Spain, then they'd even be able to cover Beckham's wages. You can even imagine Beckham taking up some coaching aspect in the Olympic side, especially if he could get players like Bale and Walker on his side.
