Scanned through the gossip columns this morning,looking at the rumour mill to see who we are supposed to be interested in. Zilch,except for another goalkeeper. I do hope that Jol in the last couple of weeks or so,in the transfer window, does not,stock us with half a dozen bargain basement buys. We have been down this road in the past with Sanchez and look where that took us. Any other FFC 606rs getting anxious.
Frustrated at nothing public happening, but not anxious. I'd have liked us to make a couple of good early signings in advance of the first Europa matches, but it makes sense to give Jol time to take a look in training at what he's inherited. There's no reason yet to doubt his judgement of players, and the transfer window doesn't close for just over two months. I agree with you that Sanchez made some shocking signings and had the wrong transfer policy, but even that brought in some gems - Hughes, Murphy, Konch, Baird (admittedly, that one took a while to come good, but he was a Sanchez signing). I can't believe that I've just written a sentence in defence of Sanchez - that's what the doom-mongers among us have driven me to!

I don't know why anyone should be worried - at Group stage we have to register a final squad - well that's August! Same time we need to be sorted for the Prem. Jolly needs to spot the gaps, see where there is potential coming through and then decide his priorities. Alistair Macintosh does all the deals very quietly (not in the papers) and we will be fine. A bit of class rather than doing all the business in public!
I think Jol said in an interview that he would take a couple of weeks to look at the squad to see where he could improve it, but he knew there were 4 or 5 players who were being let go and he would try to replace those. I guess July 1st will be the start of the process of players leaving. Not sure why all this interest in goalkeepers unless there is truth in one of the keepers leaving. Demel 30 year old Left back for Hamburg has been mentioned as a target. We are supposed to be one of 6 clubs looking to take Hitzlsperger from West Ham. Still rumors continue about El Hamdaoui from Ajax. Apart from one or two (wonder) goals I've never been impressed with David Bentley, don't see what he brings to a team, bit of a luxury IMHO.
