Although it is nice when others drop points (when we are in our position) i am one who believes you need to win your own games and not worry too much about the rest. We really needed to beat WBA (and didin't) So we need to beat Liverpool. I must say i don't think it really matters now anyway.
Well if the the other teams around us had won there games, we would have been pretty much relegated a long time ago. As a team you have to focus on winning your own games, but the clubs around us results are equally as important no question.
Saints 3-1 up, getting 3 or 4 into the box during open play and 7 or 8 at set pieces and they score from 3 crosses, we have 1 in the box in open play and 4 at set pieces and we wonder why we dont score, its not rocket science.
too many 'if's and but's' for me. Teams around us are important but we need to win? You cannot go a whole season hoping everyone else loses each week because we do? We have not been good enough and hoping that others lose each week sounds desperate.
My thoughts too. Never get this "doesn't matter what other teams do" lark. Today's scores, if they stay as results, will put us further in the ****e and make it even harder to get out.
Think you misconstrude my thought proccess. When the season starts you cant think about other teams...there is no point, you just get on with your own games and win as many as you can and you'll do well. BUT when you are in our position (or this is equally true when you are top of the league) the results of the other teams around us are massivley important.....because for every point they gain, thats another we have to and we dont have the luxury of points at the moment. Yes we have to win our games.....but if all the teams around us win this weekend and we manage a tough 3 points tomorrow.....then we are in the same position with 1 less game. Look at the last game of the season....we failed to win our own game, BUT only becuase Bolton couldnt get a result we stayed up.
i think its the attitude still left over from Hughes, our players are worried about the defensive side so much that we never look like scoring, unless of course we go 1 or 2 behind and then attack and we start to look good. It does my head in because we wouldnt be in the **** if we started games like that.
May as well get relegated knowing we've attacked, rather than get relegated knowing we've just defended like at Newcastle and Sunderland.
Also, theres no way Im going to renew watching the negative ****e we play, its just not enjoyable so it makes sense commercially as well as sportingly to attack rather than try for a 0-0 and hope we sneak a goal but end up losing every game by a single goal. Thats what non league teams do against top sides in the FA cup, not what a side should be doing with the players we have.
