Not that I've nicked this idea from anyone................ di Fredsta

As we all think Autosport's ratings are a bit dodgy, have your say on how you think each driver performed.

Marks out of 10, maybe give reasons for a mark you may think is controversial?

    Autosport say :-

    Vettel: 7
    Webber: 6

    Alonso: 8
    Massa: 7

    Button: 8
    Perez: 7

    Kimi: 9
    Grosjean: 5

    Rosberg: 7
    Hamilton: 8

    Hulk: 7 (?)
    Gutierrez: 6

    di Resta: 8
    Sutil: 8

    Maldonado: 3
    Bottas: 7

    Vergne: 6
    Ricciardo: 4

    Pic: 6
    Vab der Garde: 6

    Bianchi: 8
    Chilton: 7

I've never particularly agreed with the Autosport rankings. The McLaren drivers seemed to drive well enough once they got out there, but 8 for Button? 7 for Perez? I don't know if Autosport is biased towards McLaren but those seem a bit higher than they should be. Not entirely sure how Ricciardo did so badly that he deserves a mere 4, and while I like Hulk I don't really see why they'd give him a ranking as he didn't even start. Also Chilton a 7 after being firmly beaten by Bianchi? Anyone else agree with my line of thinking here <laugh> hopefully what I'm saying isn't totally ridiculous.

    Autosport say / I say:-

Vettel: 7/7 - Raced well, a bit hidden in the race. Placed some overtakes very nicely, kept it clean and deserved the podium.
Webber: 6/5 - Rubbish start, and fell back beyond the expectations of the RB9.

Alonso: 8/9 - Brilliant start, and a an expected impressive performance for the 2nd place, may have favoured from Massa's losses. Great racing non the less.
Massa: 7/9 - 2008 Massa is back, ragging the car around the track like he was possessed. A 7 from Autosport was an insult to a dedicated effort.

Button: 8/7 - I would personally expect more from him. But clearly the team is lacking in his support.
Perez: 7/6 - Beaten by his teammate, has experience of racing, no points at all.

Kimi: 9/10 - The lad put in a genius performance, it may have been easy but it was a delight to watch. Kept his composure, could have done nothing more.
Grosjean: 5/5 - No contact at the start, but we should expect an F1 driver not to do that, nothing special.

Rosberg: 7/5 - Outshone by Lewis, not taking into the DNF, which was not his fault. But clearly he is lacking pace.
Hamilton: 8/8 - A real solid performance in the Mercedes, who were lacking something, and it wasn't driver effort.

    Hulk: 7/7 - Solid Quali.
Gutierrez: 6/6 - Sauber are slow yes, but slow enough to be beaten by a TR, surely not.

di Resta: 8/6 - Managed some solid points, but his teammate showed the true potential, which was miles off what he showed.
Sutil: 8/9 - Fantastic drive from the returning driver, would give him 10 if he had to start last or something.

Maldonado: 3/5 - Not a performance I would expect from a GP winner, but he was pushing.
Bottas: 7/7 - Solid effort from the rookie, the car could be better for him. No issues, or big mistakes.

Vergne: 6/8 - Fantastic race, has something special that I didn't really know about, certainly not an above average performance.
Ricciardo: 4/7 - Was having a good race up until the failure, not his fault the issue occured.

Pic: 6/7 - Solid effort in the Caterham.
Vab der Garde: 6/6 - Beaten clearly by his teammate, but a solid effort to be fair on him, he will learn as the time comes.

Bianchi: 8/9 - This lad is something special, nothing more.
Chilton: 7/6 - Beaten by his teammate, no issues but he was outshone massively.

    Webber: 6

    Alonso: 8
    Massa: 8

    Button: 7
Perez: 7 Almost matched his more illustrious team mate but showed more fight.

    Kimi: 9
Grosjean: 5 Didn't have all the updates Kimi had but, apparently, had a coming together with Vergne which we didn't see. I can't say it was his fault but but he has a lot of form.

    Rosberg: 7
    Hamilton: 8

Hulk: Pass Disappointed for him and for me too!
Gutierrez: 6 Not bad for a first race but didn't sparkle.

    di Resta: 7
Sutil: 9 An impressive return: rusty after a year out? No way!

    Maldonado: 4
Bottas: 6 As with Gutiérrez, not bad for a first race but didn't sparkle.

Vergne: 8 I'm blaming Grosjean for the incident. Did everything right otherwise.
Ricciardo: 6 Shame about the accident.

Pic: 7 Made a decent effort in the worst car.
Van der Garde: 6 First race, **** car, don't want to be too harsh.

Bianchi: 9 Shone like a diamond in ****.
Chilton: 6 As with VDG, First race, **** car, don't want to be too harsh.

Aha! That would make this easier wouldn't it! (I can read I swear :p)

Gonna be hugely unnoriginal and copy you a bit EMSC :)

    Autosport say / I say:-

Vettel: 7/7 - Agreed here, raced well and had some good overtakes. Didn't deserve the win in the end but a podium was well deserved.
Webber: 6/5 - Agreed again with EMSC here, poor start and didn't do well enough given his machinery

Alonso: 8/9 - A lightning start and some fantastic driving (bit biased admittedly), deserved his second place.
Massa: 7/9 - Completely agree again, the old Phil is back! Glad to see him doing well again!

Button: 8/7 - Drove well, but it just didn't seem to come together. Agreed again in that I'm not sure the team is all there right now.
Perez: 7/6 - Barring a poor strategy call by the team in qualy I would've expected more from him. He's got plenty of experience and is going to need to work hard for the next races.

Kimi: 9/10 - Agreed yet again, drove absolutely brilliantly. Composed and classy from Kimi, but in a way I sort of expect that from him. Fully deserved the win.
Grosjean: 5/5 - Pretty much the same as Autosport actually, nothing special. Clearly outperformed and outclassed by his teammate.

Rosberg: 7/6 - Having started the weekend pretty well I would've expected a bit more from him, although the DNF was unfortunate.
Hamilton: 8/8 - For as much crap as he's gotten about his move to Mercedes, it all looks good so far. Great performance from Lewis.

Hulk: 7 (?) - As I said before, how does he have a rating?!
Gutierrez: 6/5 - That Sauber is a decent car, and overall this was a disappointing showing from him. Having only heard good things about him but never seen him race before, I was expecting a bit more tbh.

di Resta: 8/5 - Managed to get some points, but was outperformed by his teammate who's been gone a year and then whinged and complained afterword. He needs to get his act together.
Sutil: 8/9 - What a return drive! Haven't always been his biggest fan but he did really well!

Maldonado: 3/3 - Agree with Autosport actually, makes a stupid mistake and blatantly calls out the car for being terrible. Gone down in my book again.
Bottas: 7/7 - Agree with EMSC, solid effort, nothing flashy.

Vergne: 6/7 - Drove really well, although I think 8 is a bit high of a ranking. Clearly some talent there.
Ricciardo: 4/7 - Dunno why he was given a 4. Drove pretty well up until the car failed on him, through no fault of his own.

Pic: 6/6 - Agree with autosport here, another solid performance.
Van der Garde: 6/5 - Solid enough effort, but he made more mistakes throughout the weekend, so I'm gonna be a bit harder on him.

Bianchi: 8/8 - Agreed yet again, really solid drive. Clearly a lot of talent there. Will be interesting to see how he does as the season continues.
Chilton: 7/5 - Maybe I'm being harsh, but he was solidly outperformed by his teammate. Thats about it.

Vettel: 8 - Didn't do much wrong but nothing super impressive either
Webber: 6 - Start may not have been his fault but just didn't seem fast all together

Alonso: 8 - Solid but outshone by Massa for large parts of the weekend
Massa: 8 - Also solid but faltered a bit in the race

Button: 7 - so so, thats all
Perez: 7 - an ok first race

Kimi: 9 - Had some luck with the Sutil road block but barely put a foot wrong
Grosjean: 5 - was a meh race from him

Rosberg: 7 - looked good in the race but even before the dnf looked second to Hamilton
Hamilton: 8 - A solid drive with what appears the 4th best car?

    Hulk: N/A
Gutierrez: 6 - As a rookie he did ok but nothing special

di Resta: 7 - Had a good quali and despite the general dislike did ok
Sutil: 7 - Was looking so good in the race before deciding to ruin his SS's

    Maldonado: 4 - A weekend to forget
Bottas: 8 - A solid rookie drive from someone who didn't race last year

Vergne: 6 - so so, seemed to struggle though
Ricciardo: 5 - Not sure what happened to his race?

Pic: 7 - Seemed to have a gutsy race
Vab der Garde: 6 - same as Gutierrez

Bianchi: 8 - Good drive as a rookie, matched Bottas
    Chilton: 6 - See Gutierrez

    <ok>

    Driver Autosport rating/My rating
    Vettel: 7/7- About right..
Webber: 6/6 - About right, poor start but came back as best he could

    Alonso: 8/8 - About right..
Massa: 7/8 - Agree, harsh, no worse than his team mate if you ask me!

Button: 8/7 - Started 10th bought it home 9th, car isn't great but an 8? Generous is you ask me...
    Perez: 7/7 - About right..

    Kimi: 9/9 - Spot on!
Grosjean: 5/6 - Harsh, he should get 11 for not hitting anyone!

    Rosberg: 7/7 - About right
Hamilton: 9/8 - Too high, didn't do anything wrong, drove a solid race, qualified well, a solid 8

    Hulk: 7/6 - Applying Not606 F1 driver rating rules.
    Gutierrez: 6/6 - About right

di Resta: 8/7 - I know I'm not his biggest fan, and he may have some issues but the same mark as his team mate, NO WAY! 7 at best.
    Sutil: 8/8 - About right

Maldonado: 3/3 - 3 is very generous but 2 is/was reserved for Narian, such a mistake from a GP winner is not acceptable!
Bottas: 7/7 - Well done that man, NOTE to Maldonado, Bottas isn't Senna (and I liked Senna!)

    Vergne: 6/6 - About right
Ricciardo: 4/5 - Harsh, didn't he suffer car damage early on that effected his pace, not his fault.

Pic: 6/7 - Drove well, put some manners on his team mate too!About right
Van der Garbage: 6/5 - Not a great debut, hopefully it can't get any worse.. can it?

Bianchi: 8/8 - Plenty of promise from the lad...
Chilton: 7/6 - Nothing wrong in his debut, nothing spectacular either.

I take it this involves quali and the race, not only the race..
Vettel: 7/8 - qualified on pole, clearly not the fastest in the race but still picked up a podium
Webber: 6/5 - qualifying was alright, but still half a second behind Vettel. Crap start even if he didnt have kers and meh race pace

Alonso: 8/9 - no drs in qualifying and got slightly unlucky not to get 4th or maybe 3rd, put in fastest lap after fastest lap when he needed to
Massa: 7/8 - Getting back to '08/'09 form

Button: 8/7 - Did all he could, nothing spectacular
Perez: 7/7 - Got slightly unlucky in qualifying with the puncture but made up for it in the race in a pretty bad car.

Kimi: 9/9 - Won on strategy but a bit lacking in qualifying
Grosjean: 5/6 - Not as much updates as Kimi but struggled

Rosberg: 7/7 - I think he proved to his doubters he can match Hamilton and was very unlucky to lose a 5th/6th position
Hamilton: 8/8 - Couldn't have done too much more but was generally slower than Rosberg most of the weekend

Hulk: 7/7 - No evidence of anything
Gutierrez: 6/6 - No team mate to compare to but crashing didnt help

di Resta: 8/5 - Alright qualifying but terrible race pace in comparison to Sutil
    Sutil: 8/8 - Great comeback

Maldonado: 3/4 - Not the greatest of cars and was poor most of the weekend
Bottas: 7/6 - Just slow, but he beat Maldo on merit

Vergne: 6/7 - Looked good all weekend
Ricciardo: 4/5 - Not a good start for trying to "Blow Vergne away"

Pic: 6/5 - Slow but alright race pace I guess
Van der Garde: 6/5 - Crashed numerous times, I expected more

Bianchi: 8/8 - Lapped all the other back markers, showing of a good potential
Chilton: 7/3 - Just terrible, slow all weekend and nearly 2 seconds off Bianchi's pace

Impossible to rate Hulkenberg. His teammates an unknown quantity and it's hard judge his qualifying performances, especially with the mixed conditions.

Why are some people putting Sutil as many as 3 points ahead of Di Resta? he finished 3 seconds ahead of him and probably would have been behind him if there was another two laps. <laugh>

Vettel: 7 - Made some mistakes and had worse tyre management than Webber, but IMO P3 was the maximum of the RB9
Webber: 7 - To be fair he had no KERS for the first 20 laps. Better pace + tyre management than Vettel in the final stint

Alonso: 9 - No DRS in Q3. Other than almost crashing into Pic, his race was perfect.
Massa: 8 - Had he pitted before Alonso, he probably would've been 2nd. Strong race.

Button: 7 - Decent performance, but nothing spectacular
Perez: 8 - Looking at the laptimes, only a different strategy stopped him beating JB

Kimi: 10 - Not sure what he could have done to get less than 10. Perfection.
Grosjean: 5 - Even without much time with the updates, he was massively outperformed by Raikkonen

Rosberg: 7 - Like Button, solid but unspectacular
Hamilton: 8 - Strong race and finishing position considering his car

    Hulk: N/A
Gutierrez: 6 - Pace wasn't great but no reference point

di Resta: 6 - Lucky not to get humiliated by Sutil
Sutil: 10 - Same as Kimi

Maldonado: 3 - Behind Bianchi for the first few laps, then made a rookie error
Bottas: 5 - I know his car sucked, but to be only 20 seconds up on a Marussia after 49 laps was shameful

    Vergne: 6 - Did fine
    Ricciardo: 6 - Did fine

Pic: 6 - Crashed in qualifying but did well in the race
Van der Garde: 4 - Awful qualifying, thrashed by his teammate in the race

Bianchi: 10 - Same as Kimi
Chilton: 5 - At least he got to the end, but his pace compared to Bianchi was embarrassing

Blinkered hatred, nothing more. His 'whinge' was about getting stuck behind Jenson and losing time. Nothing new for any F1 driver to complain about.

Sutil's race was helped by him being on a different strategy which meant he lead once everyone had their first pit stops and was out of synch for the rest of the race.

As you say, finishing position was just 3s ahead of di Resta, who outqualified him as well.

But, these scores go towards the seasons total so all go into the pot.

For those who have given Hulk n/a, are you happy for me to give a 5 for his qualifying, just so he has a score to count towards the season tally? Seemes harsh to give him a 0 for a mechnaical fault that prevented him from racing.
