I imagine Wagner's new year resolution will be to turn a faltering Norwich City team into genuine playoff contenders. What better way to start 2024 than showing this new grit, determination, tactical genius and ability up against the high flying Saints Russ's team are unbeaten in 17 and only 3 points behind them down the road. A proper test! I'm off on hols shortly so can I ask @Bure to take over the next match day thread even when we knock over Saints. I'm going off grid for a couple of weeks. Wish me luck while my 2 teenage sons go cold turkey without Wifi. OTBC. Happy new year everyone
Happy to pick up the reins buddy. Enjoy your holiday. I think we can win, but don't expect us too. Double Dutch I know, but that's how I feel about our team atm.
I’m torn between wanting Saints to catch Ipswich up and never wanting us to lose! Saying that, seeing the binners get promoted only to get battered 4-0 each week by the PL money bag teams might make a nice change
I really don't want to get up at 6 am on New Years day to watch us get battered by the Saints. I probably will, though.
If the management want to gain promotion then they have got to sack Wagner or strengthen the squad (or both?)
I rarely say anything remotely like this but I want City to lose - for what should be obvious reasons (not to see Wagner sacked), ergo, I don't care how badly they play.
Assume it's a 5-2-2-1 defending / 3-4-2-1 on attack. No role for a dedicated 10, so whoever breaks forward out of Sara or Núnez? Maybe Sainz or Rowe will shufti over during the early phases of a counter?
Multiple options with that line up, it could be a 5-4-1 with McLean at LCB, it could be 4-5-1 with Mclean at DM, or a 4-2-3-1 with Mclean at CM and Sara or Nunez pushed up to no10. Interesting that Barnes doesn’t make the squad, feels like punishment from Wagner for losing his head last game which got the Millwall crowd on our backs. Or it could just be because he played a lot of football since coming back from injury
If Wagner restores McLean to the midfield now that Hanley is fit, my last remaining shred of belief will be lost.
Sounds the plan is to only press them once they reach our half? assume we're allowed to make 10 subs as the lads will be nackered by 60 mins.
