It would be great to get a striker or two in but we first and foremost have to create chances for the striker(s). Our final third play is where the issue is at the moment. Crosses are close to pathetic, including corners, Chair as good as he can be, constantly turns in circles before he decides to cross. This must be infuriating for strikers who may make a run, to find the ball not come in and have to move again with little momentum or even find themselves offside. Yes it would be great to get a striker in but pretty pointless if we don't create anything for them.

I dont see too many alternatives right now to making the best use of Armstrong, playing him like those Ireland U20's. We've got to use him, nobody else in our strike force is coming close to scoring. He ain't no "kid" either.
He’s played in 16 league games this season, starting in 10 of them. In 870 minutes on the pitch he has 1 goal and 2 assists. Oh and 4 bookings. He has had a fair go and not delivered. He is better than last season and Marti might improve him more, but his close control is still comical. Ain’t no messiah here.

Dykes is just as bad, 1 goal in 13 appearances.

There’s no doubt it’s a tale of two deficiencies up front. $hit deliveries and $hit performance by our forwards.
We ought to be able to coach the former to improve; I’m not so sure we can do the same with the latter - that will require personnel changes in my view.

Armstong also managed to hit both posts with 1 great strike and has just shone on International duty. No messiah and he is doubtless a very naughty boy, but he is all we have when Dykes isnt scoring. My point was and is that he SCORED 2 goals and had 1 very good assist for Ireland U21 just last week. That ought to have given him the self confidence to do the same for us now. We must tap into that while we have the opportunity. I'd play Willock as a False 9 tomorrow with Sinclair and Smyth running at pace beyond him. Willock, Chair and Dozzell providing them with the ammunition.
