Our Boxing Day fixture sees us face managerless Millwall. We need to turn in some good results that our performances deserve. Norwich City welcome Millwall to Carrow Road for some Sky Bet Championship football on Boxing Day (KO 3pm). City players and supporters will be hoping to end 2024 on a high with this being the first of two home fixtures, QPR are also due in NR1 on Sunday, December 29. They'll be hoping to pick up some points after a run of just one point from 12 since the home win against Luton Town. The last outing was a 2-1 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Squad update **UPDATE** Gunn - IN - Recieved a fine but no match ban after FA charge for improper conduct. Cordoba - OUT - Banned for one game after receiving 2 yellows last game McLean - OUT - FA charge following the QPR game sees him banned for 4 matches. This is game 4/4 Forsyth – OUT - knee - 2 more weeks out, pictured back on grass Sargent - OUT - Had surgery – 2 more weeks out, pictured back on grass Gibbs - OUT - 6-8 weeks with a reoccurrence of the hamstring issue that took him out from the start of the season The Opposition Millwall are two points ahead of City in the table after their 1-0 win against Blackburn Rovers last weekend. Mihailo Ivanović scored a 96th-minute winner on that day to halt the Lions' run of three straight defeats. Managerless at the moment, Millwall and Neil Harris parted ways just a couple of weeks ago with David Livermore taking over temporary care of the team. Positive Vibes!!! ON THE BALL CITY!!!
Great job, Suffolk. We could do with one of your long runs. All of those positive vibes could just do it!
Chrisene at LB? Love Fisher but he is out of place there, cuts inside too much and with Sainz doing the same that flank becomes very exposed. After what JHT has just said I expect Forson to feature, but maybe from the bench.
Fassnacht all but confirmed to be leaving in Jan with both Gordon and now Myles preferred to him. Sorensen missing again suggests his injury issues are continuing.
Really good first half performance, perhaps could have done a bit more around the box. Now they need to come out and do that again in the second half, don’tet the standards or attitude drop.
I have never seen a ref get in the way so much, at least four times we had to play around him until he finally got in the way of a pass. Realistically we should be out of eight here, but still totally dominant. And we are playing with more pace which is good to see.
What is it with our second half performances? We were mostly second best without being outplayed. We were slower, more hesitant, almost timerous at times. But we won.
Again the performance levels dipped although we had countless opportunities to hit them in the break and failed to make the right pass at the crucial time. A much needed win and I didn’t think the result was ever in doubt but I could have done without the scoreline being as close. I’m not sure how they have conceded so few goals this season we should have had 4 or 5 today.
A rare trip to CR for me today. Fisher was certainly one of our best players on the pitch to look day and looked very comfortable on both sides after he was switched at half time. His positioning, reading the game were excellent. The only thing he needs to add is a bit more bulk so he wins more of the physical 50:50 challenges
A few under hit or astray passes today as well but yes other than that a really good performance. I was most impressed by Chrisene and Schwartau personally, Marcondes was again very good (unbelievable that he was a free agent). Both have made fleeting appearances but I though they came in and looked very assured today. If he’s not injured I would keep him in when Cordoba comes back and give Doyle a little break, available from the bench.
Both Schwartau and Crisene had their best games yet and Oscar was my MotM for his game winning goal and hitting the post, as well as a lot of vital defensive play, though it was very close with Marcondes. Emiliano is still getting better every game and as Suffolk says, what a free transfer that was. Fisher was also very good, but failed to block their goal.
