Norwich Reserves 1 V 1 Swansea Reserves Wilbraham (88mins) Cotterill (30mins PEN) Att: 745 Just thought I'd let you know my thoughts on the boys performance last night. Living in Norwich I don't get to see many of our games (mainly just London & East based away), but went along last night.... Gerhard Tremmel - 6 Played OK in terms of commanding his area and talking to his back four, but his distribution was awful, can't see him dis-placing Vorm anytime soon. Jazz Richards - 6 Did OK, played some great through balls for Edwards & Thomas, but seemed intent on diving whenever their winger put him under any pressure, as a result he won a few free-kicks but also nearly cost us dear when the Ref got bored... Vangelis Moras - 6 Having watched previous Reserve highlights I was expecting big things...he looked very calm and steady enough, but didn't exactly take charge, I can see why Monk is still getting game time tbh. Daniel Alfei - 7 Bit of a revelation at centre back. Really impressed by this young lad, I'd say he looks like a very decent prospect and I'd give him 1st team action ahead of Jazz based on this performance. Fede Bessone - 7 Looked very solid, both in defence and going forward. It was his shot that struck an arm to win us a penalty. Taylor will have to be playing very well to continue to keep him in the reserves. Lee Lucas - 8 MOM for me. Incredibly calm on the ball, dictated play with both short & long passes and looks like he posses immense quality already. Kurtis March - 7 Very impressed with him as well, the centre of midfield looked very solid with these two young lads. God we are so blessed in this area of the squad! Tom Butler - 6 Meh...Did ok, but never really bombed forward to help Thomas out and just got in March & Lucas' way most of the time, tried some fancy flicks and tricks that never game off...obviously trying to impress, but don't really know why we gave him a new contract tbh, must be a really nice guy to have around the place? Gwion Edwards - 7 Probably the most naturally gifted player on display for either team, quick & very skilful, if he can learn to get his head up and put a final ball in, he'll be unstoppable. David Cotterill - 6 Tidy penalty for the goal, but didn't do too much else, frustrating as he's clearly talented, but obviously can't be that bothered.... Casey Thomas - 6 Worked his nuts off playing up top by himself, but never really looked like scoring, felt sorry for him as he was isolated for long periods of the game. Overall a fair result. Lucas & March completely bossed the first half and we deservedly took a lead into half time. 2nd Half different story with lots of Norwich chances and they eventually got the breakthrough after some panicky clearances and defending at the end. It was nice to see that we showed the same desire to play possession football in the reserves, my only concern was the lack of clear cut chances....if it hadn't been for the penalty I could not see us scoring.... Here's Alan Curtis' views from the website: Hope that's useful.
Great post, Norfolk. For some reason the reserves don't get the coverage they deserve; after all the kids coming through are going to be the lifeblood of the club in the future and I, for one, am very interested in their progress. Every one of them that makes it for us could be millions saved in transfer fees if we stay in the PL. Thanks for the post. What about it Mods? A sticky dedicated to the "stiffs" would be useful for a one place visit to monitor their progress.
Cheers for that Norfolk, good to know how our reserves are doing, I must say I haven't seen them play at all this season, but the few games I watched last season, and when Sousa was here, they were shocking, Dobbie, Owen Tudor, and Trundle etc. It doesn't surprise me what you have noted regarding Lee Lucas, March, Alfei, as I've watched those youngsters play against my son, at Stebo (Llanelli) a few seasons back, and was particularly impressed with Lucas, anyway if they played a passing possession game that's an incredible improvement, because they where really bad when I watched them a number of times, it made me think that Pascoe didn't have a clue what he was doing. Thanks again........................ please log in to view this image
From the players above....? Tremmel, Lucas, Moras, Bessone. Along with the regulars: Lita, Routledge & Orlandi Basically replacing Moore & Richards for Lucas & Bessone (Assuming we go with the same line-up as against Bolton)
interesting, i wonder if BR ever watches the reserves, over here the reserves are always a prelim game to the main match
Doubt he watches the away games like this one. Probably just gets a detailed report from Alan Curtis and takes it from there....
