    This sounds pretty ugly:
    http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/norwich-city-most-expensive-team-to-watch-in-championship/#

    Doesn't make for great reading.

However, I do think that it isn't really portraying the reality of the situation (as is clear from the article). My understanding is that the vast majority of City fans will be on season ticket renewals and will have paid quite a bit less than this, because our season ticket support is so good. Naturally, with our squeeze on seats and lots of keen fans, NEW season tickets are going to be at a premium. We simply don't have the space that Fulham has with its small number of season ticket holders, so it is much easier for them to be cheap.

We also don't have the rich benefactor in the shape of Cardiff's owner (thank god...) so we do need high prices to compete.

That being said, it is still disappointing

Especially when you see that we're more expensive than four (4!) Premier league sides <yikes>

Agreed, though again you can make the point that those are clubs where again due to the size of their fanbase there is not a shortage of tickets (and in the case of Hull another wealthy benefactor able to keep prices artificially low).

    But still...

Currently we have a shortfall in finance I'm guessing despite the grumbles many fans are ok with this if it means we can get back immediately.
I don't gave a season ticket but will no doubt still spend hundreds if pounds watching norwich this year especially as I'm moving to London.

join the club, Last season Town had the most expensive 'match day' prices when you added in the cost of a program, drink and pie. For me watching second tier football should not work out at more than around the 25 quid a ticket region. You guys are probably in a decent position as you will fill the majority of the seats. for the last few seasons we have had in excess of 10000 spare seats and with our pricing structure then we were not going to attract a lot of casual fans.
I think that is the big issue for us both, a few of your posts suggest your doing it because you can but we all know a few months of poor quality football and a decent percentage of 'fans' will just walk away and find some other way to enjoy their saturday afternoons.

True to an extent, though bear in mind that despite dire football in 08-09 and last season crowds were still maintained. We like our poor quality football hereabouts! (or at least we seem to like having something to complain about...)

Completely agree about ticket prices and match day costs across the board. The German model is so, so much better.

first up, their study is very misleading as our cheapest season ticket is way cheaper than the figure they state - for instance, i don't pay anywhere near £585 and never have paid that high, so how can it be our cheapest? they also don't take into account our junior offers which are some of the best in the whole country, some of which include season tickets from as little as £19 for youngsters accompanied by an adult. the issue we have at city is supply and demand. we have nearly 21,000 season ticket holders in a stadium which holds just over 27,000. of the remaining 6,000, 2,700 are devoted to away fans (if a full allocation is taken) leaving around 3,300 each week. we sell these every single match regardless of the price. combine that with the fact we held our prices from our last premier league season (no doubt expecting premier league football) and we have our problem. tickets are like gold dust at carrow road and the club can't then charge dirt-cheap tickets to rival fans if they are automatically charging much more for their own fans. thus the price for away fans is steep. season ticket prices are very competitive in my opinion working out at around £21 per game. still expensive but compared to regular ticket prices pretty good. until carrow road is extended the problem will remain as despite poor football and poor results during the past ten years, attendances have never fallen and i don't think the ground is a priority for the board right now.

    This

    And we have decent pies!

As I said, I was thinking more of this being a gripe at football prices overall rather than a specific dig at our club, where the high price is a little bit more complicated due to circumstance. Look at a season ticket at Arsenal! (and the pies...)

what we need is to borrow 10,000 of the unused seats down at portman road. that would help their atmosphere as their ground would be full and would help all our fans squeeze in each week ;)

we can just stick yellow 'throws' over them to keep the germs at bay <laugh>

Where on earth did they find that picture for the article? It's got Becchio in a Norwich shirt!

I concur with Supers, our cheapest ticket is well below £585. What poor journalism.

To be fair to the author - he does make it clear this is headline, first time buy rates with no accrued discounts... And it's hardly good journalism creating a snappy headline with an asterisk saying "subject to various disclosures in small print below", even if that would be more accurate!

If the article was correct, it would mean that each goal we scored last season cost the season ticket holder £20.89.
Not forgetting some of those were scored away from home, so no guarantees they'd have seen those, anyway! <yikes> <wah>

I paid the same as last season for my seat in he N&P - ie £490. Yes, seats elsewhere are more expensive, but as we fill our ground every week, I don't think it's an issue.

Not sure what you mean, the article is just wrong. I'm not a lawyer (no matter how many episodes of Suits I watch) so you've confused me somewhat but there are thousands of tickets that are less than £585 without any discounts in small print - that's just how much they cost...

£585 is the cheapest for NEW season ticket holders, i.e. those that can't make use of early saver deadlines.

Not that there can be any new season ticket holders, as they're all taken!

We've just been relegated so we need to balance the books even with these parachute payments, the regime before McNally nearly bankrupted the club by not managing the clubs finances efficiently. As a business the club have an in demand product with plenty of customers which has limited availability, so they'll adjust the price to what they deem as acceptable, think of it this way if you had a business and had a product with a lot of demand but with a certain amount of stock what would you do with the pricing?
