Well, basically. Great to see Vaughan get a brace. Hopefully he will kick on from this and have a decent season- he really deserves it, so unlucky with injuries considering the promise he showed from early years
He seems a decent signing when did hughton announce him? I'm only joking by the way. Really hoping he can stay fit and get us some goals though!
History would disagree I guess. Seemed a strange acquisition to me. Scored less in his career than GH scored last season hasn't he? Really hope he can stay injury free and show his potential this season. Was a good sprinter as a teenager, he could come good, but I'm not holding my breath.
well im hoping all goes well for him and he gets a few I am more than happy heading in to the new season that no money has been Torresed away on a supposed super striker, we have real ones already
Yes, it would be really good if he can stay fit and find the back of the net regularly. When you consider the players who suffered long term injuries last season, it will be 'akin' to signing a LB, CB and CF who have only cost us their wages for 6 months or so and the time spent with the physio!!! Shrewd
To be fair, I think we do. Holt won't play every game and he won't score in every game that he does play. Besides, the whole 'goal-scoring burden' mustn't be left entirely down to him. If we could rely on Vaughan staying fit, which we most certainly can't, it would be a different matter. Chris Martin, bless him, is Champ quality at best IMO and I'm not a fan of Morison but I would love him to ram those words down my throat when the season kicks off. I really rate Jackson and with a little bit more luck in front of goal this time around, I reckon he could hit double figures easily
Interesting point of view. Slightly agree re Morison, but he scored some VALUABLE winners for us last season (WBA away, QPR away) and who can forget his eaqualiser at the Emirates!!!! I'm going to take a punt on him at the bookies that he will get into double figures this season. A lot will obviously depend on the formation which CH adopts and I imagine it will be quite varied, but a lot less so that that used by Lambert. As you say, are Vaughan's injury nightmares behind him - let's hope so and then we only need to 'shore up' the defence to hopefully still be discussing our forthcoming season in the Premiership this time next year???
If Vaughan can step up then I would be content with what we have, particularly if Holt settles back down again which looks to be the case. I like Jackson but he doesn't hit the net as often as he should. Morison is still a little bit of an enigma but hopefully between the four we have enough variety to do the trick. Chris Martin as I have said many times and has been said again on this thread just isn't up to it in the prem.
vaughan's quality should not ever be in dispute - the lad has undoubted class - but unless he can play a whole season he is not going to be a great striker for us. hopefully this will be the year it all falls into place
