City welcome Oxford to Carrow Road under Friday night lights. We will be looking to secure all 3 points againsts 18th placed Oxford who are without a win in 5 games (L D L L L). Our own results of late have been checkered ( D L D W D) and we really should have seen out the Blackburn game to have us sitting within a potential win away from 6th. A win on Friday will keep our play off push alive, and with Wednesday visiting on Tuesday (Wednesday on Wednesday here in Oz) could we sneak a spot and potentially swap places with Bristol City, our next away game? Last weeks play off poll saw more positivity in our ranks with 43/57% no/yes, up from 33/67 the week before. The new poll above reflects me projecting our collective will for Sainz to bag a brace at least OTBC
Sainz is way overdue. However: I once lost seven hands in a row playing blackjack. I proceeded to empty my wallet and play everything I had (hoping a double down situation wouldn't come up) thinking there's no way I will lose eight hands in a row! I lost and went home.
If we don't get 3 points here, it's goodbye to play offs. We should be putting these teams away. Wednesday on Tuesday is another game we are well capable of getting 3 points To be honest I don't think we can make the play offs. The Mayor has been a big loss to us recently. If we did manage to get promoted, it would be a short visit.
What's the situation with Gunn? I hear he is out, and Long is also not available. Chrisene and Dobbin are out for the season, but Dobbin in is being treated at Norwich, hint, hint. Mahovo is out until the international break as well. I am flying back in an emergency in case I am needed. OK, coming back for a few weeks in summer.
Nothing mentioned in the presser regarding Gunn I don’t think? Is that related to the punch that he received last game? Long will miss Fridays game but back for Tuesday
Some bad news from the press conference with several players now feasibly ruled out for the rest of this season. Squad update *Updated after Press Conference* (CM) Mclean - IN - Rejoined training this week and should be fit for the squad on Friday (CM) Marcondes - IN - Came on towards the end and got an assist last time out (CB/LB) Doyle - IN - Returns from suspension (GK) Long - OUT - Concussion, returns to training possibly returning Tuesday. (CM) Forson - OUT - Soon - knee knock - Back in training Sunday, possible return for Tuesday (LB) Mahovo - OUT - 2-3 weeks - Knee injury, targeting return after international break (RW) Jurasek - OUT - 2-3 weeks - Some physicality concerns raised, to do with the intensity of the league. Taking a long term approach with him. Targeting return after international break (CM) Gibbs - OUT - 2-3 weeks - hamstring injury, targeting return after international break (GK) Mair - OUT - No timeline - Returned to the club after breaking his finger. (RW) Springett - OUT - 11 weeks - back injury - re-occurrence, season as good as over (CM) Forsyth - OUT - knee injury, still has pain and looks like it will require surgery. Season as good as over. (RW) Dobbin - OUT - His season is over after injuring the opposite calf for which he was withdrawn against Stoke (LB) Chrisene - OUT - His season is over after ankle injury sustained in the first challenge from Dennis vs Blackburn
I’m not sure how true this is because I can’t be bothered to look it up, but apparently in the 35 games we have played this season we have played 32 different lineups. It sounds both far fetched but entirely possible
Apparently a couple of big injury blows in addition to those mentioned in the press conference ahead of tonight’s game
Disappointed with that lineup, particularly the midfield and a new partnership in central defence both left footed. I also dislike that we weren't told about Gunn in the presser.
The way that the PinkUn are talking heavily hints that Duffy was a last minute decision due to some sort of disciplinary issue coming to light
Not much choice in the lineup, both McLean and Marcondes have been out for weeks with injury so doubt they are ready to start. Everyone else is injured. Hopefully Gunn and Nunez aren’t too bad. Looking forward to seeing Reyes, hopefully he can move himself ahead of Long!
