Interesting that Vadis was dropped. One of the better performers last game. Generally a very attacking team, clear that Neil thinks that there are goals to be had.
I have assumed, though I've not seen it said, that Neil basically played a second team on Boxing Day so as to save energy for today (principally Hoolahan, obviously). That's the way I've looked at it - it's not really throwing the game against Tottenham, just recognising that today's match is the priority.
Dorrans noooooooooooooo Can't tackle can't press can't break no pace. Otherwise a perfect midfielder. I hope I'm wrong but this selection makes me fearful.
Oh I agree in general and around this time of year you need to use the whole squad. Just felt Vadis made a case for himself. I was expecting O'neil to come back in.
Dorrans is the only one I raised an eyebrow at. His early season form seems a long while ago. Villa playing Ayew and Sinclair means we definitely outnumber them in central midfield. So I think Neil's lineup reflects a desire to dominate possession like we did last season. Pleased to see Mbokani get a run out, and I fancy Redmond and Brady against their full backs. I'm certainly nervous though, massive 3 points on offer!
A bit like the Swansea game in many ways but whereas the Swans never looked like getting a shot on target, let alone scoring, I would feel happier of we scored at least one more today.
