I think the moral of the story is to wait until your own team plays until you start gloating. Sorry old mate but you knew I would come back on this.

Sometimes, when carp fishing, a bait may be cast out, and nothing much happens for a while, and the temptation is to reel it in, refresh the bait, and cast out again...but the more experienced angler knows that the wiser course of action is to leave the bait out and wait for the bite that will surely come... This thread is a case in point...
I fell out of my pram laughing at that old chestnut Guru, and you know how ****ing old I am! Must try harder!
Problem is Tweacle, this morning Mick will be on the training field sorting out how to score more and concede less, Little Chrissy Whotun will be sat in the corner of his office only thinking on how not to concede, plus frightened to tell his players who takes a penalty.
can i just ask, have you ever heard of a manager who tells the players who the penalty taker is? it is always the players who decide between themselves. if you've heard differently then fair enough
Don't know teams you have played for supers, but as far as i have always been aware and told, the manager decides who is the prime penalty taker and a back-up, then its that player who if he feels he isn't in the right frame of mind passes it over. I seriously can't imagine that a professional team will go out not knowing who has first dibs at a penalty.
never ever heard of that, certainly not at a professional level. they might suggest a preference and normally there is a stand out candidate to be fair, which makes it obvious, but its always been down to the players to decide between themselves as far as i'm aware. you're right that sometimes the nominated taker is not in the right frame of mind or does not fancy it, hence why you sometimes get two different takers during the same game. we have no idea if the players had decided before the match that snoddy would take it. snodgrass shouldn't have taken it in my opinion as rvw has a 100% success ratio from the spot and i assume that is why hughton said he was 'surprised' that rvw didn't take it, but the dutchman didn't try to discuss it and snodgrass was playing a bit crap and had the confidence to step up to try and get some form back by getting on the scoresheet, make something happen for himself - nothing wrong with that unless the players have decided someone else is above him in the pecking order. but i bet he won't be taking the next one now!
I stumbled across Little Chrissy's Twitter page today, can i say what an interesting guy! https://twitter.com/Boringhughton scroll to the 19th september, i was laughing so much i pulled a muscle!
do they? honestly, we're a weird bunch at the moment guru. it was pretty embarrassing at the weekend, hearing booing of a substitution (which was totally the correct call by the way), cheering when benteke got a serious looking injury (which i find disgusting), abusing snodgrass throughout even though he was one of the players most likely to make something happen, although he did have a bit of a 'mare in the end. i see no reason to throw the toys out of the pram but unfortunately there is now quite a large percentage (at a guess maybe 20%) who do and all it is going to do is harm the club. norwich fans have always had a penchant for pressing the self-destruct button and i fear it happening again. it is all so avoidable. i think too many fans have failed to adjust to life without lambert. understandable to a degree - he was arguably the best manager we've ever had - but we are far from a shambles. instead i would describe us as being 'slightly disappointing' so far. plenty of signs of encouragement too but they, naturally, are all being ignored the premier league. it brings out the worst in everyone
From a far, you guys look the spitting image of us in our last season in the prem, trying to bring in players on heftier wages and price tags, looking like you have lost the heart and togetherness that got you there in the first place. you know my views on Whotun, and to be honest me, JWM and others have got him spot on, a one dimensional manager who is frightened to let the shackles off the players until its too late.
and as we know, that's not always the case. there are problems, don't get me wrong, but some people really need to get a grip. everybody must have known (or at least you'd hope they would) that we'd be amongst the teams who would fight relegation - there'll be at least ten, probably twelve involved. we might have spent a lot of money but we've spent it to keep up with everyone else - not to take us to the next level! michael laudrup was bang on when he said to take swansea to the next level would cost £200m+.
I think there's a bit of a difference between Swansea and Norwich supers, their squad is already packed full of quality so the next stage for them would be competing with the big six for top players.
