Premier League new-boys Norwich City have tabled a £1.75million bid for Huddersfield winger Anthony Pilkington, according to the Daily Mirror.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert want to make the 23-year-old his fourth signing so far this summer signing after put his offer to the Terriers late last week.

But Pilkington is rated at £2million by the League One side and Norwich’s Premier League rivals Stoke and Wolves are also known to be interested in signing him.

Lambert has got his bid in first and wants to complete the move in a matter of days before his competitors have chance to catch-up.

Norwich have already spent around £7m bringing in Steve Morison, James Vaughan and Elliott Bennett to bolster their squad for their Premier League campaign.

Pilkington is the next target as Lambert tries to assemble a squad he believes can avoid dropping straight back to the Championship.

The former Stockport player missed Huddersfield's run-in after breaking his leg in the game against Rochdale in March, but will be fit for the start of the new season.

The guy is brilliant but has had a nasty injury, so I am not too sure that Norwich would want to buy him yet. They may want to see if he returns as good after the injury has healed.

He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.

Sums Paul Lambert up, most of his signings to date have been courageous. Taking average players from the lower leagues and making a decent team out of them. Not saying Pilkington is average.

He clearly feels this guy is worth the gamble despite the injury and is keen to get him before someone else does.
Fits the bill perfectly - young, ambitious, level headed, decent player (PL will make him better) & most importantly - hungry <ok>
