What a result last night and what a performance. Most people were expecting all the home nations to get soundly beat but Northern Ireland without a doubt put in the best performance by leading against Portugal for most of the game before cruelly conceding an equaliser 10 minutes from time. Many, myself included, thought Northern Ireland would be in for a drubbing but not only did they hold their own against one of the best teams in the world but they also looked like the better team. A superb goal from Niall McGinn, top class performance from Roy Carroll and a world class performance from Johnny Evans but not forgetting all the other lads that put in one hell of a shift. Yet the top sporting news today is focusing on a game that never happened. Anyway, great performance lads, you done our wee country proud. Stand up for the Ulstermen
I thought you didn't care about Norn Iron, everytime their ****eness is brought up, like their recent humiliation at the hands of ROI, you go to great lengths to try and convince us you don't care about them. Now they fluke a win and you're the no1 fan?
Did you watch the game? Who said I'm their no.1 fan. I still don't like international football but they put on a fantastic performance that all us Ulstermen (me & you both) should be proud of.
Glad to see you accepting yourself as part of an Irish province and as Irish as our Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal bretheren
Well into the 2nd half. Easily the better team in the 1st half and into the 2nd. Portugal started throwing everything at us and yet still we played good football and created chances. Just because they had more shots at our goal does not make them the better team.
I wasn't surprised by the result considering the Irish have quality players like Davis, Lafferty and McGinn. Dean Shiels couldn't even get a start and he's been scoring for fun in the lowest tier of Scottish football.
He's trying to avoid playing the riff raff in order to keep himself fit enough to play against Messi next week
