Looks like the Mercedes team is really pushing to the limits. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90952 Next 3 races should be make or break for them this season when fighting for the WDC/WCC
Hanging onto strings....that's what their followers are doing. I seriously cannot wait for Turkey now.
I must admit I was a tad suspicious of Mercedes last GP, I thought maybe they short fueled, which was why Nico went critical fuel so early. That said I think a big thing with Schumacher is his lasting legacy, he's pretty much done everything, now his last goal is the rise of the Silver Arrows. I don't think he would've come back for any other team, he might know he'll probably not win, but who would you want in a team helping to develop a car? a relative rookie, or a guy that took Ferrari to the sort of dominance not seen since the Mclarens of the 80's? I would love to see a 4 team tussle for the championship, and who knows, maybe he will win again (not a fan btw, too dirty for me)
What a way to end a career though, you worded that brilliantly, for that (not for the Schumacher +ing) you are getting + rep . Anyway I'm not wanting to get my hopes up yet because they are brought back down to earth as in 2010- 2011 Australia -2011 Malaysia. China results were bittersweet. Lets just wait, although I can't.
If schumi helped get Mercedes back to the 50's era it would make me very, very, very, x50 very.......happy. But Nico is helping that train along aswell me thinks.
I think this might explain Mercedes performance increase: http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/05/08/m...d&utm_campaign=Feed: Yallaf1com (YallaF1.com) I wasn't concentrating on the car or the front wing all weekend so I don't know if this is true. Did anyone notice a Merc flexible front wing?
Today their pace was ok but nothing special. Certainly top 4 now though, which is an improvement. MS seemed to just be going backwards all the time until the very end.
Nico did not make up any places at the start or throughout the race, at-least Michael gained positions back after the incident and some when the lights went out, nobody seems to mention Nico going backwards...hmmm. Mercedes as a whole are going backwards again.
I think they qualified well and then as a whole went backwards to where 'they belong'. Which I think is the 5-9th region.
In all respect Nico did a good job at the start, I was right he took Mark into the first corner, but in the end tyre blistering messed up his whole race because somehow Mercedes didn't think of looking into the high fuel levels enough. I admit it would be near on impossible to match the Red Bulls and Ferrari of Fernando but he probably would of beaten Lewis by a margin.
Actually this is not entirely correct. Rosberg also was able to regain positions when his tyres were more favourable than the guy ahead. Although he had fewer guys ahead to overtake in any case, he still re-passed Button. Mercedes certainly have the car: In my opinion it has always been more competitive than it has looked and is roughly on a par with McLaren and Ferrari. What is making the differences between them is essentially the driver line-up. Rosberg needs to learn how to defend more robustly and Schumacher needs to learn how to retire. Sorry Manny; you know this is nothing personal and the truth can sometimes hurt: F1 always moves forwards but Schumacher has been going backwards for a long time and is only still in the seat because Haug is a gentleman and does not wish to add to any embarrassment.
