<spoiler alert, quotes MASSIVELY taken out of context, a-la daily hack> Benitez: "My future is Tottenham, after we will see," the 53-year-old said. "At the moment I'm just thinking about Tottenham and what we could do.
. We are not a retirement home for Chelsea managers! Unless Mourinho wants to come here? As AVBs assistant, obviously.
Let the God of Thunder calm you all down. I've read the scroll upon which the offending material is written and he means the next match is Tottenham against Chelsea NOT that his future is at Tottenham.
I think he is trying to say that he will have to consider whether he still has a future after the Tottenham match.
Are you really happy with AvB? You'll likely finish lower and with less points than last year and you've already conceded more goals and likely won't score more than last season either. You'll have to forgive me, I know they are only stats but aren't they the stats that actually matter?
So we will hopefully finish with more points than last season. As for league position, if we finish lower than last season it will be largely due to your club improving significantly since last year, having spent a fortune, rather than our club being worse. If you want to talk about stats, lets look at net spend over the last season AVB's in his first season, he'll need a few years to build the squad that he wants, and Levy hasn't bought him the striker that we have desperately needed all season, so he can hardly be blamed.
The Magician (AVB) has done tremendously well, considering that the embittered gutter press and all its legions of blood-sucking hack journos were lined up against him and praying for him to fail, so that they could slate Levy and our board over the sacking of their "mate," Harry Redknapp. It didn't happen, and the Magician proved that he's made of sterner stuff. He's pulled a couple of rabbits out of the hat, for sure, particularly given the fact that he has had a squad laid waste with injuries. Several players have blossomed under his regime, including Bale, Vertongen, and Lloris, and others seem to be enjoying a new lease of life, such as Dawson and THudd. With a Summer to get key players fit, and to test the transfer market, I can see our Magic Man startling us with more wonders, next season. As for CFC... Looks like SAF and United are about to engineer a stunt that will upset the "Mourhino returns to Chelsea" hysteria. I have little doubt that the stunt is being pulled to lure The Special One to Old Trafford, and there can be absolutely no doubts that if it came down to a choice between Chelsea and United which club he'd choose.
