Those hoping for a Spurs story, switch threads!, I'm posting this article for those with non league interest. Keeping up to date as I do with my local town sides, the talk at the moment round these parts is about Guernsey FC having been promoted from Tier5 into the Ryman South for the 2013/14 season. Congrats to them for their achievements in recent seasons, but is this really going to work for semi-pro's and their day jobs. Quite simply I don't know, I do know my stepson who recently retired is gutted (he liked his away trips!), but it would seem the Island location is bound to cause problems at some point.

My first impression is that its perhaps more hassle than its worth.

Seems pretty unworkable, unfortunately. It'll be interesting to see how the situation develops, though.

Well they seem to be making a genuine effort to make it work. I think they have gained promotion in each of the 2 or 3 seasons they have been playing on the mainland.

I guess their biggest challenge was last season when owing to combination of the grim winter weather and their success, they were obliged to play something silly like 30 games in 25 days to finish their season on time. I believe they even drafted in Matt Le Tiss to play and help them out. Anyway, they seemed to survive that, so good luck to them is what I say. I bet all the opposing teams love the experience of going over there for a weekend.

I think this is all being financed by their sponsors, so the problem will be if and when the sponsors decide to withdraw.

    Good article notso <ok>.

Have you ever considered changing your name to Suttotsfan? I'm sure you talk about them at least as much as you talk about Spurs <laugh>
