I wonder if Barnet are just plain jealous, they have topped the table most of the season and can only get an average gate of1807. noticed to that Eastleigh and FGR who appear to be throwing money around are not bringing in the crowds either. My guess would be that if a poll was taken as to who the clubs would like to see promoted Rovers and Grimsby would not be to near the top of the list as we provide good revenue for them

Im not saying this is the case, well I hope it not anyway! Barnets last 2 games are Kiddy and Gateshead, both who have nothing at all to play for. If you were the owners of those 2 clubs, would you say to the manager give a few younsters a go as the kids benefit from getting 1st team experience, if they lose the game it doesnt matter anyway, also it would mean Barnet go up and Rovers could stay down and looking at next seasons finances, Rovers away crowd will bring in much more ££££££ than Barnet. So its a win win for them.

I thought the fair play rules were based on things like players wages and money coming through the turnstiles.

Most of the 'highest attendances' in our league were against us because we've taken thousands away to the likes of FGR, Kiddy, Eastleigh etc.

However, if we don't go up this season (shudder) I can see our gates taking a serious dip.

Bloody fabulous backing for the 5th tier though, however you look at it. Well done Gasheads <applause>

Its funny how FC United of Manchester and Maidestone who are leagues below our league yet are above Barnet!

CJS it comes down to the passion of the fans for the team they support. Aren't you supposed to put out your strongest team if either side is involved in relegation or promotion battles

Like I said, I wasnt saying it was the case, just saying if you were the chairman of Gateshead and Kiddy, who would you rather face next season, us or Barnet? Financially, they will want us to be visiting them. So if I was involved in the income side of things at Gateshead/Kiddy, I would hint to the manager to give a few youngsters a chance with a secret 2nd motive in play as hoping Barnet win and Rovers stay down. Just a conspiracy theory but I hope they dont think like me <laugh>

Yes, but I mean, it's only one game out of twenty three, is it really going to make that much of a difference to their overall seasons finances ? I'd like to think that both of these clubs had the integrity to play out their respective seasons with their strongest available squads and then maybe play a few of their youngsters in the games 'that matter', afterall that is when they will really gain some experience.

I would like to think so too. And I hope that is the case. Im not saying they wont be professional, im just saying if it was me I would. Hopefully they dont think like me.
As for their finances, say Barnet take 100 away fans (and thats pushing it), how much more money will they get if it was Rovers instead taking a 1000 away fans? Or 2600 like what we took to Kiddy, a team who is in deep deep trouble financially, like most non league clubs are.

£18 a ticket at Kiddy, 100 Barnet away fans turn up = £1,800 gate reciepts. Then add money for program and refreshements etc. Not much for 100 people mind.
£18 a ticket at Kiddy, 2600 Gasheads turn up = £46,800 gate reciepts. Then add money for program and refreshments etc. Thats a lot for 2600 people.

That amont of money could make a massive difference. Could pay a months wages for a few teams!

Very True CJS if all of the 'Gate Money' actualy ends up within the clubs coffers ! I understand that the entry procedure at The Aggborough Stadium' last Monday was, "a little unconventional" and then from my own experience at Welling back in December blatently open to exploitation, I bet that guy who just opened the big wooden gate and was taking everyones money had a swell Christmas !

Some Kiddy season ticket holders lost their seats as Kiddy placed extra gasheads that arrived and paid on the day in their seats!!!
