Our defence is all sorted with Mickey Bell running away with the votes and completes the back four. We now move on to the first position on midfield and no doubt one of the most interesting places to chose from. ------------------------Gibson--------------------------- Sweeny--------Merrick--------Collier--------------Bell RM----------------CM-----------CM------------------LM -------------------ST-------------ST---------------------- I have to nominations and not sure who to go for Scott murray is a clear choice but my 2nd is Albert Adomah again a easy choice, I'll wait a bit more to decide on who ill choose but now its over to you Votes must be in by Wednesday 8:00pm
Back four looks powderpuff and SHORT with Bell at left back... Whitehead right side of midfield pin point cross to Cheesley. End of thread.
Reliant, would you not agree that Kellard is more suited to central midfield? Personally I think that there are so many possibilities for this one, but for me it's between Scott Murray, Trevor Tainton, Clive Whitehead and Jimmy Rogers. I'm going to sleep on this one and make my mind up tomorrow.
Murray was decent but played most in L1. Albert - not yet but has potential to be. So it's Clive Whitehead who did it in the top division.
This thread will get tedious very quickly if all people do is only vote players from our few years in the top flight. It does not automatically follow that our best players in any given position can only come from this short but great era.
Hmmm Gregory Goodridge, Danny Haynes, Michael McIndoe, Ralph Milne, Scott Murray, Luke Wilkshire, Clive Whitehead and Mark Gavin has all had their 15 minutes of fame with us, but Scotty gets my vote ( Clive Whitehead was close but was converted into a defender)
Whitehead did the business at this level as a winger in a promtion winning team. Shows how good he was that he played hundreds of games at a higher level as a full back as well.
'Go on Clive, skin 'em alive', how many seasons did Clive play as a winger and why was he converted to a defender?
Massive, Clive Whitehead played winger from 1973 till almost the end of 1979, then was converted to a defender at the end of 79 till the 80-81 season, then reverted back to winger in the 81-82 season, so played the vast majority of his games as a winger.
My choice for Right Midfield is an old fashioned winger who also played centre forward for a couple of seasons and is City's fourth highest all time goal scorer; JIMMY ROGERS With very honourable mentions to Whitehead, Murray and Tainton By the way for Left midfield my choice will be Alan Walsh (5th all time scorer) and the two strikers will be Tom Ritchie (2nd) and Big John (1st)
AD - thank you for Whitehead's playing career - you saved me a job. 'Supcon - 'This thread will get tedious very quickly if all people do is only vote players from our few years in the top flight. It's not memory talking either, I'm 99% certain you'll never see the likes of Hunter and Gow play for City. I've placed Basso in front of Gibbo/Cashley and I'll put Tinnion at LM, I'll also put Andy Cole ahead of Ritchie or Garland from that era. There's no sympathy vote from me I assure you in any of the players I select.
