Cant decide between Bradders and Llewellyn. Bradders for his never say die attitude and comitment, or Andy Llewellyn for his long service to City as an unsung hero.
Gerry Sweeney for me.....I used to train with him & Keith Fear when having trials! (true) Again, one of the greats that helped us get to the promised land. Orr 2nd!
I'm just doing some thinking out loud at the moment. Archie Annan, Ivor Guy, Tony Ford, Trevor Jacobs, Gerry Sweeney, Donnie Gillies, Andy Llewellyn, Bradley Orr, Rob Newman. Questions I'm asking myself. Gerry Sweeney a right back or midfield? Donnie Gillies striker or right back? Rob Newman right back, left back, centre half or midfield? I'm in a quandry because there are at least two or three among my list who I believe deserve serious consideration for "all time City greats" Any thoughts especially from the other wrinklies who post.
Would have to go with Gerry Sweeney, closely followed by Donny Gillies, and when you hear people talk about players playing out of position, Gillies played right back, left back, inside forward, and centre forward, Alan Dicks was one of those managers, if you can play football, you can play anywhere, my opinion, to true.
Andy Llewellyn would have smashed Orr in a fifty fifty challenge. Unlike left backs Bristol Citys right backs don't include many who stand out. So, Gerry Sweeney easily.
My vote is for Gerry Sweeney. But now I'm in a quandry where Donnie Gillies and Rob Newman should be posituioned in future polls for other positions. I would have liked to have recognised the contributions of Archie Annan from promotion and FA Cup Final team even though I obviously never saw him play and Ivor Guy who held the position for some ten years after second war.
Full backs have never been that strong in BS3, therefore I am going for a player that I feel will prove to be a club legend in the fullness of time Foster. There, i've said it ! In at no. 2 is Sweeney, due mainly to his involvement with the best City side in living memory I also think what a shame for Ribiero, because he had the potential to win this competition hands down Shiny - about 2 hours. Good one.
