Toon player nolan reckons glory days ahead for his mob, like him or hate him he does a job and does it well, but is he confident of cocky. Have a read and cast your judgement. SKIPPER Kevin Nolan believes his midfield alliance with Joey Barton can help inspire Newcastleââ¬â¢s return to European football. The pair, both 28, have been Newcastleââ¬â¢s key men this season and the club are close to confirming a new contract for Nolan. That deal could see Joey Barton pledge his own future to the Magpies, having declared that if his fellow midfielder stays, he will follow suit. Kevin Nolan said: ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢d like us to keep Joey. Heââ¬â¢s a big player for us and heââ¬â¢s come out saying he wants to stay. ââ¬ÅWe all want Joey to stay, we want to keep this squad together. We canââ¬â¢t afford to lose any other big players.ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ As the Toon bid to clinch a top-ten finish in todayââ¬â¢s home game against West Brom, Nolan is already setting big targets for next year. He said: ââ¬ÅThe Europa League is the minimum that this club should be aiming for . ââ¬ÅWe have the potential to do it. If we keep making the right decisions, keep bringing in the right personnel, then weââ¬â¢ve got a chance. ââ¬ÅThe most important thing is bringing in the right people, who understand what it takes to play for this club. ââ¬ÅThatââ¬â¢s what they do at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. As soon as new players arrive, they know what is expected of them. Thatââ¬â¢s what we need here. ââ¬ÅIn three years we want to be up with those clubs, hopefully weââ¬â¢ve got the wheels in motion.ââ¬Â
Everybody is saying the right things and confidence is high... We've money to spend this summer and a manager who wants to bring in the types of players we all want, and Ben Arfa and Gosling already basically like new signings, next season has amazing potential for us
Nolan is right Newcastle aswell as us have the potential to be playing Europa League football especially if teams like Birmingham and Stoke will be next season, both teams just need tweaking here and there and abit of luck through the season. You take Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Man City and Everton out then who else is there realy, why can't the north east teams be ahead of the rest?
I think we can at least match the liverpools & evertons. If we hadnt lost DB and the injuries we have had think we would have finished above both of them this season. Moyes always does a good job on very limited resources and liverpool gained impetus by putting KD back in charge.
