You have to give Fat Sam credit. He may not get his teams playing fantastic footy, and he may not lead them to Europe, but he always gets a team solid and in a safe mid table position.

West Ham have looked great today. Very, very dangerous from set plays, they look solid at the back, no one can win anything in the air against them except Hangaland.

The combination was always going to work, we saw it for ourselves, and Carroll will look a different player to the one that was at Liverpool.

Like others, I don't have much time for Allardyce, but this was a very clever move by him I think. Will likely put Carroll's selling price up next year.
