It seems like that's how it is. All the teams around us are stumbling towards the end of the season. Tomorrow at Brum is a massive game and on current form we have little chance. But that's US isn't it........When you least expect it............. All the other teams are trying their level best to f**k it up so you never know.
If I'm honest Scull the top two deserve to go up.Third spot is anyones from the following ten but I don't think we are ready for the Prem.
I don't think we will win tomorrow but given the poor recent form of all teams it wont be a disaster if we fail to win. Having said that the lads need to start winning if not for a play off place to gain some confidence.
Having f~ck*" up our three home games it would be just like us to beat Birmingham. I don't say that with any degree of conviction but this is a typical championship season. Southampton and Reading will probably get autos now but the rest of this division is very average.
I can't fault Saints this year. A little blip but rode that out and now look back on track and Reading hit form at the right time too so agree with the above, those 2 for autos. I've gone against the tide and predicted an away win tomorrow which would put us back in the PO's. I'd be happy with that although staying there and getting through them is another matter altogether. I've said in another thread and agree with ITI, this squad isn't ready for the Prem.
The footballing gods are going to keep this interesting that’s all you can guaranty. Now come on city lets kick on even if we don’t get any points at brum today we are still in there AGAIN because off others results.
Very few teams are ever ready for the Premier, it's what you do about it when you get there that matters. No team going up can guaranteed not to come down if that's the thinking behind some of the comments, but there are a few clubs up there right now that are no better than we could be with the money Prem promotion would bring in. The bottom half of the Premier is littered with them - Swansea and Norwich have proved that. Sorry guys, but bollucks to not being ready - I'd rather go up and find out how good we could be, rather than spend another year in the Championship only to find out "we're not ready to go up" yet again.
I don't think we will tomorrow, but as said before not so much of a disaster now. I am not sure how we can not be ready for the Prem if we got promoted? It must mean that we are more ready than the clubs who didn't make it?
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. We've got players who cant even get a Champ game so I don't see them setting the Prem alight. Obviously getting there would (you'd hope) change the mindset of the Malaysians and MM with regards transfer targets etc but thats no guarantee the quality of player needed would sign. This squad has shown what they can do against Prem opposition, albeit a very poor B'burn side and in a Cup Final but I'm not so sure about week in week out. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to see us promoted but, as it stands, I wouldn't relish getting spanked most weekends... well, at least not until I got home after the game
Nothing wrong with disagreeing about somethings on here H, after all we both agreed not to be mods............ Tell me then - when will we be ready? Are Soton and Reading ready? How about Boro, Hull or Brighton?
haha, yes we did...agreed I wish I had the answer to that Sparkey....I could make a fortune at WH All I'm saying regarding the current squad is that IF we got there, I wouldn't expect anything... though I've been known to be wrong, just look at the prediction tables Saints I would say would/will do ok, Reading I'm not sure, the others are no better than us imo... but I guess, like you said earlier, the only way to find out is to get there.
I think WHU would move Heaven and Earth to stay up there as well if they managed it - but I don't think they will, and Allardyce will be gone. What happened to the pundits "certainty" Leicester? If ever anyone was geared for it they were with the King Power dosh. Looking at recent results though, I still wouldn't rule them out as a back door playoff contender. We'll just have to do them again on penalties - where is Kermogant these days?........
I didn't know that H, and to use one of Delboy's phrases, Charlton are one of my most favourite teams. Just hope they can get back to the Champ despite having Yann there............
It would be nice to be 'ready' for promotion, but at the end of the day you've got to take it if it comes along. At the very least, even if you come sraight down, you get your finances sorted. I'd put up with coming straight back down if it gave us the opportunity to build for a second assault on the prem. Not many teams fare as well as the Swans and Norwich in their first season, but fair play to them. We might get lucky and stay up. If not we come down in a better financial position and build to go again.
ask blackpool fans what they think about getting promoted if you're not ready, burnley fans, norwich fans etc i want premiership football please log in to view this image
We all want Prem football Swamp, I just want it for more than 1 season... ask Blackpool and Burnley that one
