My greatest football memory was at Wembley in 1966 when Nobby and the rest of the famous lads brought the World Cup home. The photo of him and his famous toothless gap went all around the world and it was taken well within my view as the team were leaving the pitch.

Rest in peace and thank you for my memories.

Little Nobby Stiles, 5ft 6inches tall, toothless gap, rugged little demon in the tackle, boundless energy, one of the '66 heroes, great memories, RIP and condolences to family and friends.

A little man with a big, big heart, skipping around Wembley with no teeth holding the world cup, is an iconic moment in football history.

RIP Nobby Stiles, reunited with 6 of those 1966 heroes.

Only 4 of these precious souls still alive of the original 11.

I still have a somewhat battered programme for the 1966 World Cup and it's very noticeable in it's limitations for publishing. It's all in black and white without advertisements and on the back of the edition it gives thanks to the typewriter manufacturer for it's support. The national teams showed all of the players and among them were some notables in Pele, Eusebio and of course all of the English heroes that did the job in fine fashion. One commentator said the night before the final that should England lose at our national sport it would be O.K. because we had already beaten them twice at their national sport.

Final score in one newspaper was West Ham 4 West Germany 2. Oh happy days:1980_boogie_down:
