hope the club can appeal the decision. Im sure Swansea did that with one of their players and it eventually went though
Back to the drawing board and time running out - what on earth have the clubs lawyer's been advising them?
No need for an appeal. He's got his work permit. CB said so. Said it can be taken as Gospel. Unless he was wrong, of course, in which case I'm sure he'll be the first on here to say sorry......
what does 'CB' stand for? Clueless Bullsh*tter? I hope not, I hope CernyBerny said it, he's ITK... apparently
23/01/2012 by David McIntyre Henrique’s proposed move to QPR is off after the Brazilian striker was denied a work permit. Rangers agreed a deal with Sao Paulo to sign the highly-rated 20-year-old on an initial loan with a view to a permanent move in the summer. The club are now considering their next move but at this stage look unlikely to appeal against the decision. Their signing of Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo from AC Milan has been approved and is likely to be confirmed once the player arrives in England later this week. Taiwo, 26, could make his debut in this weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Chelsea.
@davidmcintyre76 David McIntyre On Henrique QPR can appeal but initial signs are they wont. Maybe thatll change as theyve only just had verdict but at moment looks unlikely
Can't he sneak in on a lorry and be paid cash-in-hand like the thousands of illegal immigrants who wouldn't be contributing to the economy unlike Henrique who would be paying several hundred thousand in tax? Thinking about it rationally, it just seems silly to me.
This is exactly what I was thinking but thought there must be more to it than this for his WP to be denied... from a purely financial perspective why wouldn't they want Henrique in the country paying all that income tax /VAT etc? Seems ridiculous to me.
It's obviously a much deeper argument than that. Non-EU players, I think, need to have played 75% of their country's internationals in the last two years for the permit to be granted automatically. The aim I think was to stop dirt cheap foreign players coming in rather than clubs investing in domestic players. Nowadays, when international football isn't as important as in the past and given he's from a very strong footballing country it seems an unfair and outdated rule. I think anyone in any industry should be allowed to work here if there's a job here waiting for them. The fact it's a footballer who will be paying more tax than 99.9% of the country makes it even more stupid.
I hope so too ! @davidmcintyre76 David McIntyre its QPR we're talking about - there are dozens of options #bidforeveryone
