You wouldn't get me up there. I actually have a fear of heights. Strange when you consider I go offshore and am up and down ladders up in the gods. I remember doing a site inspection at Nigg on this valve which was high up and had had nothing around it at all apart from a big **** off pig receiver which if I fell onto would have killed me. I actually froze temporarily and thought "**** I'm not going to be able to get down".

    Anyone have any phobias?

It's always puzzled me that a fear of heights is labelled as an "irrational fear" or phobia.

It's perfectly rational if you ask me. It's irrational not to be afraid of heights; falling from which will result in injury, severe injury, or death.

Just to be clear, am no feart of heights

I've actuall decided to hang up my offshore hat. 48 now and can't be bothered with it any more. Done the survival 4/5 times now plus I still have this painful nerve thing which means I probably would not pass it anyway. You most definately need the use of your arms.

I'm with you Gambol, seems perfectly rational to me being afraid of heights.

Take it you have seen that famous black and white photo of workers in New York sitting on just a thin girder way up the sky having their sarnies and tea. I mean WTF.

It is one of the supreme images of New York: a group of ironworkers casually seated on a steal beam eating ... Photo: Lón sa Spéír TG4 MEN AT LUNCH FILM Lunch atop a Skyscraper - Documentary .... http://tariqkataria.blogspot.ie/2013/02/men-at-lunch-at-gft.html ..... Men at Lunch explores Irish origins of NY builders ...

This doc was aired earlier this year but not sure if you can see it,try this and if no good will get it properly when I go home. The gist of it was Irish lads up there and they traced their relatives.

When you say hun, do you mean Protestant?

Census figures & recent polls would suggest its not going to happen anytime soon.

    Deal with it.
