Every time I've seen Do Prado play he f%#king hides. Best of all.. He cost us 3 points today. Say what you want about De Ridder but at least he would of had a go today.
Regardless of De Ridder and his quality, Guly was crap up front, crap in defence. I actually said before the game i think he will thrive on the atmosphere and now i feel like a right knob.
Adkins fault, should have taken Guly off at least 15 mins before full time and expose Pompey's defence with the pace of De Ridder. As Shearer said, Guly is on the post for corners because he can't win headers. Should note that Fonte & Hoovield lost the initial header, so they share the blame as well.
I rate De Ridder personally, but then again I've only seen him on TV because I'm an overseas Saint. I just felt that we needed 11 players out there who would give their all, Not 10 players with one who MIGHT do one good thing in 90 mins. Also, I didn't see the point in swapping Fox for the sake of it. In a scrappy affair, his set pieces were our only real threat! But that's just me picking holes.
I thought Adkins got it wrong today. Despite me not being a fan of his, I was happy to see Nigel bring Harding on - but not for Fox! I wanted Guly off, with Harding joining Fox to shore up the left-hand side (and Lallana moving into Guly's role). At the very least, I thought Holmes (not De Ridder!) should have come on for Guly for the last 10 mins.
Never one before to slate a player, have seen others negative comments about Guly and thought nooooo! Today, I can say I now see their point of view. Play him at home, he does have skill and reads the game. Away, I can only say the away support have questioned. Like others I was shouting for him to be subbed and de Ridder to come in. Everyone knows, all gamblers, you cannot ride your luck. We did, then tried again...we dropped 2 points.
Also, I didn't see the point in swapping Fox for the sake of it. In a scrappy affair, his set pieces were our only real threat! But that's just me picking holes. __________________ At the time, I thought Fox was wanting to come off, Nigel didn't seem pleased with the change. Not sure though.
From what I saw he didn't like the abuse he was getting from the Pompey fans. He looked really pissed off when he came off.
Thats no good reason to come off, thats good reason to knock another good ball into Lambo & laugh at some chav's!
Jumping a bit to conclusions aren't we. Perhaps he was injured and was disappointed to come off. Doubt any player would want to come off because he doesn't like barracking.
