"The 30-year-old added he hoped there would be an overhaul in playing staff to avoid ending up "in a Wolves situation", saying that the "League" was a difficult league. Wolverhampton Wanderers were relegated from the Premier League last season and could drop into League One just 12 months later. "It's the club and supporters I feel for," said "player xxxxxx". "They don't get the chance to move club or switch alliances, they are left to pick up the bits. "Lot of those within that dressing room have to have a good long look in the mirror. Spoke to a few of the better lads over the course of the season and it seems things just became ridiculous in the end. "It seems an awful lot must change if they are to have any chance of turning it around next year. The club needs to change from top to bottom. I wish them every success in doing that. "Believe it or not I am actually gutted for "xxxxxx" - I reckon more than some of the current playing squad. It's an excerpt from the BBC football web today by a player about another club. But it could easily have Bristol City inserted instead of the "xxxxxxxxxx"
Rumour has it wolves will have to have a transfer embargo because of the wages players are on. Hope this is true. They'll lose all there best players and wont be able to get any in. Why people think wolves will walk league 1 is beyond me. They are with us for a reason.
Wolves have a wage bill of 25million but they will recurve 16 million parachute payment so they have a deficit of 9 million to make up on gate receipts. Which will still be in 20k attendance next season. So it is probably just that Shiny a rumour. I can remember when Wolves sunk to the old 4th division but they are a well supported club and will bounce back trust me on this one. Just a quick question Shiny and this is not a dig at you in anyway can remember when we got relegation last time?
Do they keep the Premier League parachute payments if they get relegated to L1. Not sure why but I had a feeling they stop? Anyone out there who can confirm?
While true, it's also worth noting that we were favourites to be bottom from the start of the season. In coming last we've merely achieved what was expected of us. Wolves made some stupid decisions, but were in no way expected to screw up this badly. Hell, a lot of people thought they'd go back up because they had a solid manager at the start of the season. We need a full rebuild, but to be fair we've known this for the best part of two years. We let Millen and McInnes take teams that were not theirs, and never allowed them to build on from there. To make matters worse we sold a number of capable players, namely Bolasie and Pitman, who have been fantastic away from us. It's problems like this that make me think that we need a Director of Football to work between the board and the manager. A capable DoF will publicise the boards failings to the public, will have a good track record with transfers and will allow our head coaches to continue doing what they are paid to do. A part of me thinks that the board are largely responsible for a lot of our transfers, considering Millen, McInnes and SOD were all head coaches rather than managers. Ideally, we'd have someone that knows what they're doing making these decisions.
Bolasie wanted to leave he wanted to go back to London. In fact thats one of the reasons I expect Albert to end up at Crystal Palace to be with his bookend mate. Pitman hardly ever performed for City when starting matches perhaps L1 is/was his level at the time.
Last time we got relegated I think was in 1999? I don't know. Why? If that's right I would of only been 6-7 years old.
One bad season doesn't make a bad player. We should have learned that after we farmed out countless forwards. Trundle performed for Swansea when away from us, Haynes performed for Charlton (and scored against us), and Pitman has been sensational for Bournemouth. He was also top scorer for us a mere two years ago. Pitman is definitely of Championship standard, and he'll rightly be playing in the Championship next season, while we'll be in League 1.
