According to the Sunderland Echo the departure of Frazier Campbell to Cardiff does not automatically mean a striker is being lined up to come in? Now, with Frazier, Ji, Saha all gone and only the soon to leave McFadden and 19 year old Wickham as cover, is it simply a smokescreen by the club to put any rivals off the track, or does it mean we may be playing footy roulette with a signing up to transfer window end? I don't see Martin as a gambler personally and I still think he knows something we don't. I expect a new face or maybe 2 by the time we face Swansea a week today and I would expect one of those to be a forward.
Yeah I'm the same. I don't think Martin has spoken to the echo so guess they're trying to make a story out if nothing
I hope you are right. We would be left woefully short of options upfront if we do not bring in another striker this window
For a guy who comes on MOTD and Sky etc saying the club is woefully short of numbers...I just cannot believe MoN hasn't got at least one signing ready to come in
This would be a mistake of Bruce like proportions! Exactly the same as when we allowed bent to go without bringing in a replacement.
If Fletcher got crocked without a replacement in place, we would be right up **** creek mate. No doubts about it but then again, even if we still had Ji, Campbell, McFadden and Saha we would be up **** creek. McFaddens loan is up at the end of January I believe.
The Echo said that the N'Diaye signing wasn't imminent just as the lad was putting pen to paper. I'm certain we'll have players lined up.
Loan? Who are you loaning him from Scrapheap FC? You do make some fair points though, shame about Saha I thought he had another season in him, obviously not.
Saha seems like a decent bloke tbh and I think if realised very quickly that the heart was willing but the body wasn't. The EPL is an unforgiving place if you can't hack the rigours. McFadden was a painless gamble. FOr all parties. He's not good enough either to have made the slightest impact here in 4 months or so.
If the forward is Danny Graham (and I hope it's not !), I cant see Swansea letting us having him until after next Tuesday....
Their 2nd leg is tomorrow mate. If Swansea make it to Wembley, would he pass up the chance to play there?
If his legs had gone it's a shame, he was technically one of the best - Rio says he's the hardest player he's ever had to mark in training.
I was talking about us playing Swansea next Tuesday mate - wouldnt think they'd allow him to line up against us given the option. Also he may make the trip to Wembley, but with Michu in such fine form, he'd be sat on his arse for most of the game anyway....
Ah gotcha! Well if they are prepared to let him go, they shouldnt be frigthened to face him either surely?
I just think that as the periphary strikers have been let go, we have cleared the way for a substantial forward commanding a big wage packet. Perhaps the Graham interest is simply a smokescreen for a big signing? Alternatively (and I've just thought this as I type), perhaps the uproar at the possibility of a Chopra Mk II may well give a certain Aston Villa striker an easier return? x
