i'm afraid with danny kedwell playing up front alone, there could be the distinct possibility that he could burn himself out the way he is showing his commitment to the gills! even though results are going in our favour...the gills are crying out for someone to play alongside danny and also score those goals for us. hess said a good three weeks ago now, that we need to get a striker in to cover for adam birchall and that he would look to sort in the next ten days or so, but would want it to be the right player for the club. we still are no nearer that issue being resolved??? infact hess has now said yesterday on the O/S that it's not great, but we are still no nearer to solving the matter of a striker to come in! saying also lets get this weekends game against plymouth out of the way, we then have no mid week games for awhile so i can sit down with the chairman and see where we go with the striker we need in the next few weeks, in the meantime we have rooney back in the squad and oli & s payne in which things look brighter up front now!...sorry hess time after time you have said this and i'm afraid it's not the answer then and it isn't now, to me hess it just looks like you hope they come good in which time it will be to late yet again!!! on wednesday we played a so called striker julian owusu-bekoe from the non-league who has done nothing of note in his career so far, in a friendly game to look at him...if thats the right sort of player you've been waiting for hess!!!...sorry but thats not the answer to what the club needs to achive our aims this season and ! i don't see us signing any striker of note that will aid us anytime soon...wish i could say otherwise! i want andy hess to succeed but think he's hoping what we have will come good or wants to get someone in for nothing and hope it works...in the meantime what?
Trusting Hess and Mr. Scally really paid off earlier in the summer so I am using the same strategy here. He has target's in mind and I would be willing to bet that tomorrow's match is the last we will play with just Danny up front. Hess know's that we can't just play with Ked's on his own for much longer and will fix the problem by the end of the transfer window. However I do feel it would benefit the club to bring in a young kid from west ham to put on the bench as a option or even play along side Kedwell so Hess can take some of the pressure off to sort out a real replacement. Stefan Payne has looked good recently so maybe on Saturday we may give him a go along side Ked's because the only way he is going to get better is by playing games! My guess is that by the 31st of August, Cody MacDonald will be wearing a Gillingham shirt again!
Hope you are right about Cody. But if we don't get a loanee by 31st August there will be at least another weeks wait as the loan window closes at the same time and doesn't open again til 5th September.
It seems like we're holding out for Cody. But I honestly can't see how we'd get him. Even if it's a loan deal why would he come to us when other clubs want him. If he goes out on loan it will probably be a league 1 or championship club as there has been interest from teams in signing him, it's just the fee that is a stumbling block, so if he's going to go out on loan surely he would go to a team higher up the footballing pyramid. I agree with the comment about having a look a this guy in the friendly but it doesn't hurt to have a look. We definitely need someone in. But I don't know what the answer is. UTG
exactly my point gfclukey, i think if hess was in any hurry to get cover he would of done exactly that...brought in a young temp striker, till we found that missing link! though because we haven't it makes you question why??? and keds is being run into the ground when we have 43 more games to put his mark on! i do hope your right regards the right calibre marksman coming in...like hess has said, but don't think cody will be coming even in our wildest dreams though!!! as they say(he's out of our league now)! hess your welcome to prove me wrong mate think we should have the buckets out...for the rase the funds for a striker...at tomorrow's match!!! on another note, see that we could be find £5000 or more for what happened at brighton...rich get richier while we pay for what exactly? UTG!!!
its as simple as this we have very little money left and hess doesnt want to waste it on bringing in the wrong player. any decent striker left on a free will be either demanding huge unreasonable wages or waiting for a high club to come in, as for loan most teams as still trying to sort out their squads ready for the season and as such dont know who they can let go without it hurting them. i predict 31st aug us signing someone on loan, who is another matter tho
