Don't remember anything being mentioned before about this but it looks like the FA have sanctioned that there will be no replays at the Quarter Final stage of the FA Cup, don't know when from but it looks like they have done it to "ease" English Footballs congested fixture list..........they must have slipped this out on a bad news day...... Now I know this really doesn't effect us as we don't do FA Cup runs but one day, just maybe........... Sadly it's just another nail in the FA Cup coffin....... Maybe I should have posted this as "off topic"
Sad news. RIP FA Cup Quarter Final (To be honest I don't even know who or what an FA Cup Quarter Final is. I've never heard of him. I thought I'd just pay a token gesture out of respect.)
It's the first step to ending replays altogether, everything is instant these days apart from a QPR cup-run...
Personally I find this decision disgraceful, it is a kick in the teeth for lower league clubs that have battled to the QF stage and manage to draw against a top club at home only to be denied a lucrative pay day in a replay. Again, pandering to the whims of the top clubs.
Until they take away replays in the 3rd round it won't effect us and only then it'll just mean we get put out of our misery quicker!
It's turned into a typical European domestic cup competition mate. We were lucky to see it in its prime, when winning the cup was just as good as winning the league.
