We have looked totally out of our depth in this league in the areas which count . Minimum 4-5 players of championship quality required to avoid a relegation battle. Whilst the stats show we have high levels of possession the majority has been side ways or backwards. I did think maybe changing formation might help but today highlighted the gulf in standard and it was clear that at least 5/6 players in this team are just not good enough what ever formation we decide to play. We could of had a 90 million pound striker up front and it would not have made a difference. We played diagonal balls all game and when that did not work we came out second half and played more diagonal balls. It was clueless. Its going to be a long old season!
Were the management asleep during the summer or were they off on a 'How to fail your supporters" seminar?
I posted on another thread my thoughts on todays game. one positive though, just looking at the league table, Preston,MK Dons and ourselves, all promoted last season, are all in the Bottom 5.- Clearly, the gap between the two divisions is greater than we might have thought?
Bench is league 1 standard I'm afraid and several players when they have an off game are as well. There is no ability to change tactics and cover for players having an off game
