Hitting Leeds in the pocket with a powder puff fine is an insult and it makes me wonder if we would have got the same penalty under the same circumstances. They should have got a points deduction along with the fine and possible other restrictions. Are the rules the same for all clubs or would the league brass prefer to see Leeds in the Premiership rather than lowly underrated clubs like Bristol City?

They broke no rules as there isn't one. A club seeking to gain advantage within rules of the game. No fault on Leeds part.

Each week we will see teams and players seeking to gain advantage outside the rules of the game on the pitch. And? Blind eye.

Unfortunately we probably will have to accept these underhanded tactics but it is just not cricket.

Then why do it sneakily if they genuinely thought no one would mind. You are right there was no written rule, but we all knew it wasn’t right to do it. It’s a sad day everything has to be written down , as mike put it , it just ain’t cricket .

No we don't. The game is rife with cheats but an intern with binoculars gets Leeds a fine of 200k for breaking no rules because its supposedly against the pale old chap. I think the fine is absurd and comical.

I have to agree with you, diving or faking injury, deceiving the ref, to me is also a form of cheating, which means all clubs using such tactics should be fined the same..
Must admit, giving out 200k fine is absurd and strange to say the least, especially when there was no rule against it..

The EFL found Leeds breached rules over treating teams with "good faith". [ Leeds have also received a formal reprimand from the EFL ] = £200k fine imposed.

The EFL said in a statement that Leeds' conduct "fell significantly short of the standards expected" and it "must not be repeated".
EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey added: "The sanctions imposed highlight how actions such as this cannot be condoned and act as a clear deterrent should any club seek to undertake poor conduct in the future.
the end result is a tightening up of the "rules of conduct" based on a 72 hour period. ………..
now that is ambiguous if as reported by media! can teams send spies prior to 72 hours!

It seems like the rules of good faith are muddied by people who should know better, and they are the league bosses.

Two wrongs don’t make a right though. Yes the instances you quote are also cheating , we should do all we can to rid the game of these things too. You can’t really argue they are wrong whilst condoning the use of clowns with binoculars attempting to gain an advantage by spying on training .
