No point crying over spilt milk’ declares QPR boss Mark Hughes as points fail to materialise
Welshman claims some mitigating factors after recent poor results but demands his players focus on vital upcoming matches against fellow relegation strugglers
QPR boss Mark Hughes believes his side's recent poor results are only due to indiscipline, but has no plans on dwelling on it ahead of two consecutive fixtures against fellow relegation candidates.

The Welshman, who took the job in London in January, leads his 16th place side to Ewood Park to face second-from-bottom Blackburn before hosting Fulham a fortnight later.

While Hughes blames a lack of self-control and ill fortune for his side’s recent 2-1 home loss to lowly Wolves, he isn't interested in 'crying over spilt milk' ahead of potential six-pointers.

"We could have been sat here and been a lot better off," he told reporters. "There have been mitigating circumstances.

"There have been two games where we have been in control and unfortunately a guy has been sent off and that has affected the outcome. Obviously Joey [Barton] got sent off against Norwich and Djibril [Cisse] last week so in both of those situations we were comfortable and lost six points.

"We can look back on it and [cry over] spilt milk somewhat, but you can't do anything about it. You have to get on with games you have got ahead of you and that's what we are focusing on.

"There is an understanding with the guys that if we lose players to indiscipline it is going to hurt us all."We are a good side and create things if we have got everybody on the pitch."

The former Manchester United and Wales star realises ties against other lower-half teams require even more concentration, starting with Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.

"We need to take points of teams in and around us," he said. "We weren't able to do that last week, a couple of weeks ago we were.

"Blackburn are coming up at the weekend so they are big games, each and every one of them. We need to get back to hampering the teams in and around us and helping ourselves.

Hughes also took time to highlight his side's selection issues ahead of the trip to Ewood Park.

"Obviously Cisse is suspended for this weekend, DJ Campbell is out and Heidar Helguson has not trained so he won't be available," he said.

"We have a few coming back that we need to check on tomorrow and hopefully they'll come through, the likes of Akos Buzsaky.

"Luke Young won't be available, Jay Bothroyd has trained the last couple of days and we're hopeful he will be ok and [Danny] Gabbidon the same. He should be okay."
