i've been racking my brain trying to think of the ultimate protest. I for one think its an absolute disgrace whats happened to nigel adkins. i've been following the club for 25 years and i'm qualified to have an opinion here. Nigel was the greatest manager we've ever had in my time by a mile and i loved the fact we had an englishman showing the way. We played great football and this is not on, no way. i figure a lot of saints fans use not606, more than most clubs and something needs to be organised. i don't care anymore, he's the reason we're in the premier league and playing it right - i hate this it go's against everything i liked about the club. i thought cortese was awesome for sticking with NA when we started badly but this has clearly been going on for months and i bet adkins knew. can you imagine how he felt, and still remained 100 % positive. He was a dead man walking and didnt let it show but he knew, he bloody knew... its an f'ing disgrace, nigel aint some commodity to be discarded and this aint the southampton way. no way. so heres the plan. if we score against everton dont celebrate. instead sing ONE NIGEL ADKINS THERES ONLY ONE NIGEL ADKINS. Cortese is missing the point. Saints fans have integrity thats why they support their local team. i dont care how much money he has, marcus liebher is turning in his grave.
If we score, nothing will stop me celebrating, I don't see the point in protesting, it's futile and will change nothing. Vent your spleen if it makes you feel better, but don't think for a moment that it will make any difference, however if you get behind the team, back the manager and support the Club with everything you have, now that would have an effect, try it and see.
Think everyone could do with a good night's sleep. I support Southampton so will celebrate Southampton scoring. Simple.
A few good chants of One Nigel Adkins to let the watching world know that we still love him whether he's our manager or not will do the trick. Aside from that, as others have said, there's no reason not to support the team on Monday - they're sitll the same players in the same shirts. Remember against Villa (at home) when the entire crowd sang it and Adkins looked close to tears? Like that but louder. Not as a protest, just showing our appreciation for the past 2 and a half years.
The reason we're in the Premier League is because we bought expensive players relative to the rest of the teams in League 1 and then the Championship and paid managers a lot of money relative to the teams round us in League 1. Also what about when Pardew got sacked? That is similar, ok without so much emotion, to what has happened to Adkins.
By the looks of it I've followed Saints for as long as you but too not celebrate isn't the answer. Nigel won't be back in the near future at least and no amount of protesting will change anything about that. I've looked at most of the posts today and we have been moving through the stages of bereavement, some quicker than others and I'm no different, shocked at first and now coming to terms with it. I really hope that Nicola has got this right, but too start protesting and disrupting the team, who lets face it, must be feeling not a million miles away from what most of us are at the moment would be counter productive for them and the club in general. The club is obviously moving in a different direction too what alot of us remember, good or bad, only time will tell. But I know the one thing that will be a constant for me is that it will always be Southampton F.C. that I follow, know matter who is running the club. We all loved Nigel and he will stroll into his next job, hopefully one that will never affect us
bollocks. which expensive players? he got us through two successive promotions through outstanding management. no one thought we'd go up last season and it was 3 years ahead of this 5 year plan bollocks.
I'm sure you'll hear more than enough Nigel Adkins chants. It won't be necessary to sing it if we were to score.
Do you think Adkins wants Saints to do well or fail? He knows he was sacked by one man...and I doubt it was a surprise, though the timing may have been. Adkins loved his time here and appreciated the fans. He would wish us well...he's not a vindictive man. There will be chants for Adkins, but if we score, the ground will erupt. Nigel was an important part of the resurrection of our club, but he's gone and Saints remain. COYR.
Totally agree. I'm still shocked but this could be the best or worst decision Cortese has made. So far he's called it right. Onwards and upwards COYR!
