Claudio Ranieri: Riyad Mahrez is not for sale at any price LEICESTER boss Claudio Ranieri insists Riyad Mahrez is not for sale at any price. The Algerian winger has been in sensational form with four goals in the first three games. The 24-year-old was signed from Le Havre for just £400,000 in January 2014. And Ranieri said: "Riyad is worth nothing as we don't sell him so there is no price. please log in to view this image GETTY PRICELESS: Mahrez won't be leaving Leicester if Ranieri has his way “Riyad is worth nothing as we don't sell him so there is no price” Claudio Ranieri "I look at Riyad when we don't have the ball, his movement. I'm trying to help him become the complete player. "I want to improve him in the offensive line. He can get better. He's young, only 24." Ranieri is set to make changes for Tuesday's League Cup trip to Bury. But he wants Leicester to win the competition for the first time since 2000. The Italian said: "We have a proud history. Three times we won, twice runners-up. "I would like to win something but now is important to build all the squad. Behind this first team. This is the real chance to show."
There'll be offers, it'll be hard for the player to resist if it's from one of the big clubs, and I certainly think he's good enough! That said we can ask silly money but I'd rather hope Mahrez says no and stays!
Better to stay at Leicester and prove his quality over 2 seasons before he even considers moving, but as the scout that discovered him (for Leicester) is now with us, then hopefully we can have first refusal!
If/when we sell him, what a profit we will make. In the current market if we hold onto him longer we can get 30+ mill (if the likes of Benteke are going for that) and we got him for about 400,000k I think
There isn't many teams that he wouldn't fit in to, honestly. If he can prove consistent over this season and keep us up this year, I certainly wouldn't begrudge him a move to a bigger club at the end of the season. You just hope that if he does go it is for a 'bigger club' and not one than is only slightly above us
There's only 1 team who are slightly above us (in this country at least) and that is Man City. The table never lies! That only leaves Barca, Real Madrid or Bayern. I wouldn't begrudge him a move to any of them.
The scout that discovered him is still with us, Steve Walsh. The bloke you're referring to was sent by Steve to watch him play.
Rob Mackenzie - the guy that did he scouting series on Sky Sports http://www.skysports.com/football/news/topic/4196/science-of-scouting He was a technical scout here and what he did is described here http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ter-success-is-a-victory-for-quality-scouting He didn't single-handedly find players but was an important cog in the machine and is now head scout at Tottenham.
Mahrez was spotted at the same time as Knockaert, but they didnt feel Mahrez was ready at that point and Knockaert was
