and from memory, the season we got first promoted to The Premier League, I recollect our trading loss in the accounts filed was around £8m! All you get for that money today is the equivalent of two crap midfielders from Liverpool!

We’re in a period where it’s very difficult to gain a full understanding of what’s going on. That’s not ideal but non-disclosure agreements have been signed and it’s radio silence from all the key players.
What we do know is that the Allam family are keen to sell City. I’m not certain that’s always been the case but things have definitely changed in the last two months. They still want to do business on their terms, but there’s certainly a willingness to listen to interested parties.
We know there’s three of those and the consortium led by Paul Duffen continues to stand out as the leading candidate. Duffen is still giving nothing away but there’s a confidence within his camp that a deal can be done. It is understood further talks were staged last week but there’s no clear indication of a deal being struck.
Then there’s the proposed £45m bid being led by Sportyco. Marko Filej has met with the Allams and further talks are planned. Logistically this remains a very complex – and therefore unlikely – option if the Allam family are keen to sell up before the turn of the year.
City sources have also maintained there is a third suitor, with unconfirmed suggestions it is a US-based group, but that remains very much an option in the shadows.
Overall progress on a potential takeover has been described as slow in the last two weeks but the Allam family are still hopeful of concluding a deal before 2018 is out. That’s ultimately a 10-week window. The clock is ticking.
