http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-39671773 I think TFT should claim insanity - at least he wouldn't be lying
Is this the same bloke as the one that used to go by the handle Tommy Tiger? If so it's understandable because he's come out with some right bollocks at times too.
His excuse for what he wrote/signed off reads like "I'm not anti <insert whatever you like, gay, black etc> because I have a mate who is <insert thing from before>. As was pointed out on CI, he's used exactly the same reasoning to defend himself that other, actual racists did. As has also been pointed out, there's plenty of other more appropriate words to use rather than ones which are defamatory and intentionally racist (he's said as much, he was deliberately trying to get a reaction...well done fella, you sure as **** did). It's kinda funny he's seen as a lefty liberal type, who is moaning about the PC gone mental brigade too. Huge error of judgement from him on this.
It's not something I'd say, and certainly not something I'd publish, but it is absolutely no worse than the sheep shagging jibes aimed at the Welsh which are rarely ever criticised.
No wonder he doesn't write articles for his own magazine reading his excuse/justification What the **** is he talking about ?
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sand licking that's one piece of information I really didn't need to know about the Allams
WTF Bizarre as it is, it makes even less sense in the context of the article (or does it? I haven't read it)
A man walks into a Welsh pub and orders a white wine spritzer. The bar goes silent as everyone stares at him. "Where are you from, you sound English?" "I'm from across the Severn," replies the man nervously. "What do you do, just across the Severn?" Asks the barman. "I'm a taxidermist." "What on earth is one of those?" He asks. "I mount animals." "Its alright boys," shouts the barman, "he's one of us."
Fans? Or fan? I don't find it 'depressing' at all. I think comments like that go way over the top in some sort of hopeless attempt to 'morally make up for' someone else's mistakes. I couldn't give a single **** if some random **** I've never met makes a racist comment somewhere, which we all seem to have admitted, hasn't even offended any of us personally. Besides, I've seen posters get away with just as bad on here... and not606 probably has a much greater readership! His comments are obviously likely to offend somebody however and he should know better... I suppose I'm just moaning about consistency here. If someone is the sort of person that needs to preach and take the moral high ground even when they're not actually offended about something, then fair enough, each to their own and they're that sort of person... but at least be consistent about it. I didn't see this reaction when the Brighton jokes started to emerge on the other thread the other day... There have never been nationally televised debates on the Welsh comments either and I don't recall a civil war whenever someone has taken a pop at Spring Bank due to immigrants etc. Is the difference simply because this occurence has actually offended the supposed 'butt of the joke'? I'm also not sure what 'damaging the cause' means either... far too much token idealism going on here for the sake of some knobber that wrote some stupid **** and looks likely to be reprimanded as a result.
