Following the Football League AGM in Cyprus, the Multi-Ball system has been removed from practice. No club is permitted to use this in competitive league matches. One chairman has said that it is a disadvantage to away teams because the home side is able to manipulate the system to suit their position in the game with regard to the scoreline. This sounds totally stupid to me, and will not improve anything, what if ballboys go missing (on purpose), or they take ages to get the ball. Not a solution, they should just fine those found to be abusing the System. Also, Q: Are the Cup competitions and Premier League also going to refuse clubs permission to use it? Madness.
hmmmm always used to take the mickey a bit when it came over the tannoy about the football league giving us permission to use the multi-ball system, but it does make the game flow better than having to wait for the crowd to throw it back.
It is abused by home teams though. I sat in the from row away to Rochdale with my young son when we were chasing the game; Deano wanted a quick throw on and the ball boy ( who was about 17) wouldn't give him the ball... I then had to explain to my 10 year old why Deano thought the ball boy had no parents!!!!
What a stupid idea. This is really gonna improve the spectacle. And Home fans would never keep hold of the ball if their side is 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go...
It'll make it harder for 'cheap' teams who need to gain a non football advantage. I'm happy with the decision.
It has been used for what the last 5 seasons at most? what on earth did we do for the 100+ seasons before that?
Couldn't give a monkeys one way or the other. What I want to know is why the Football League had to go all the way to Cyprus for an AGM!!!
The same reason Stevie Gerrards charity followed him abroad for fundraising........a nice hot golfing holiday, if I'm not mistaken.
Should be retained IMO, unless the ref reports that the home team are abusing it, in which case they lose the right to do it. It does reduce the temptation for the team desperately holding on to a slim lead just hoofing it into the stands and helps the flow.
To be fair it probably doesn't make much difference to the game, and is obviously open to abuse by home teams.
