NEIL LENNON'S plans for next season have been dealt a huge blow as a deal to sign Polish defender Jaroslaw Fojut was cancelled due to injury. Fojut sustained a serious knee injury in his final game for Slask Wroclaw â a repeat of the cruciate damage he suffered while playing for Bolton in the Premiership. Fojut, 24, meet Celtic doctor Roddy MacDonald last week when the injury was confirmed. The SPL champs have now pulled the plug on the pre-contract agreement he signed in January. It is a major set-back for gaffer Lennon who is desperate to strengthen his central defence with Glenn Loovens and Daniel Majstorovic set to move on. Lennon said: âIt looks like Jaroslaw has done his cruciate and that deal is off now. He was in London on Tuesday with our doctor Roddy to see a specialist. âWhen you sign a player on a pre-contract there is always that option to break it. Itâs a huge blow for him â and for us. We really liked the cut of him. âWe need a team for the Champions League qualifiers and it could take longer than six months for him to recover. âIt would be a gamble so weâll have to look elsewhere. Dan and Glenn are both out of contract so we may have to go shopping for two more central defenders. âWeâve already made inroads. We put a bid in for a player last week and are waiting to see how thatâs progressing. âIâve a list of players. Iâm under no illusions I might have to sell a player to balance the books.â Lennon is adamant Kelvin Wilson isnât on the way out despite Leicester being linked with a £3million bid for the player. The gaffer said: âThereâs been nothing between the clubs. âKelvin had a pretty good season and we are short of players in his position. We wouldnât be in a rush to do anything there.
£3m for Wilson? That would be daylight robbery! âIt looks like Jaroslaw has done his cruciate and that deal is off now. He was in London on Tuesday with our doctor Roddy to see a specialist. âWhen you sign a player on a pre-contract there is always that option to break it. Itâs a huge blow for him â and for us. We really liked the cut of him. Is Neil taking the piss or what?
Yeah he's good, plays a bit hoof ball and often his hoofs go astray. But as a centre half his blocking, tackling and heading are top drawer. But also has a bad disciplinary record (got sent off twice and countless bookings in the 6 months or so he played), an ego and a fairly hefty wage. He had a fall out with the manager and he hasn't played since about February. We bought him for 4m last summer and are looking to recoup some money for him. The same Sol Bamba who we bought for 250k last January and then rejected a bid of 3m this January? Yeah, that guy. He's class but likes to think he's Maradona at times. Probably our best CB, maybe Wes Morgan is slightly better. Would be interesting to see Morgan and Wilson who were part of probably the best Championship defence a couple of seasons ago when they finished 3rd at Florist. But yeah, Mills is only 4th choice because of a fall out.
