Have to say after watching todays game i have no issues regards a return to the championship.

How we did not win today it was a travesty,we should have been the side going through.

If i was a person that did not know what teams were playing, would you have any idea who was premiership, and league 1.

The team has come on big time, they did us proud today.

now let's get to wembley on Thursday and back to winning ways in the league next Sunday.

Cannot add to the previous posts. Proud of my club and team today. We played good football at a good pace and with some steadiness in front of goal could have caused an upset.

Now let's wrap up promotion and the League One championship.

With 5 mins to go, I was caught in 2 minds. I desperately wanted us to score, but thought this will just be another game that we don't need, especially one that we would likely lose up there-

We do now need to make sure that we make full use of the 5 home games in February- I was looking at the table and noticed that PNE had drawn 3 of their last 4 games and all against teams at the very bottom of the table- We need to pull away from them and MK Dons now

Korey Smith,Luke Ayling,Adent Flint had fantastic games.

A couple of additions and we will do extremly well next year,we could even do a GJ year and certainly look at playoffs.

Enjoyed watching the game during my brekky this morning. We certainly gave an excellent account of ourselves but it was frustrating not seeing us have the clinical final ball. We were completely reliant on Smith's aerial power and it almost paid off but to have a fast forward to run off of Smith would have made a huge difference.

Anyone know why Elliott was on the bench?

It was a strange last few minutes, I desperately wanted to hear the crowd roar when we scored but equally didn't want a replay.
I said to a West Ham mate of mine, first choice a win, second a loss by a solitary goal with a good account of ourselves then a heavy loss then a replay.
So at least I got second choice, but with a bonus even West Ham fans was saying how unlucky we were.

If we can hold on to the core of players we have and make a couple of solid additions then we could do very well.

I like Matt Smith but I think having a target man wont work nearly as well in the Championship. If we get there we will need to be much more creative in our approach play.

Even watching Bournemouth yesterday as an example; they are a very quick and accomplished side but we're not quite at that level yet.

Bournemouth have been unlucky lately- I saw the highlights against Leeds and don't think that I have ever seen a team so on top but lose, since our own game away at West Brom when we got promoted to the Old first Division in 1976. one way traffic from West Brom but we got the win.

Yesterday, they were undone by 2 moments of pure class. I agree, up front we cannot rely on Smith alone. A premier defence generally dealt with that and being limited with injuries, had no plan B up front, and that would be no different in the Championship.

I feel good about our chances of going up but there are 4 good sides with a realistic chance of only 2 guaranteed places and we must make sure that we get one of them.

We have a bit of a quandary now.

To permanently sign a big target man like Matt Smith which would be a very good move to ensure (?) we get promotion this season.

Or to sign quick smaller strikers like Bournemouth have, a la Steve Neville/Glyn Riley who will be much more effective in the Championship where brains are better than height and power.
Not meant as an insult to Matt Smith but even the towering Andy Carroll is a pretty useful footballer on the ground. Old fashioned big strikers are hardly seen at the top of the Championship or Prem.

As we do not at this moment, have Matt Smith on loan, perhaps the solution to the puzzle may become a little clearer in the next week.

We need to be able to vary our approach. Championship sides would suss us out very quickly if we only have a Plan A

Smith is good in the air and is also excellent at holding the ball up.
Wilbs is going in 36 years of age and wont go on forever
We need to start planning for the future up front

For the first time in many a year we have a manager that I totally believe in.

Is Smith up to the Championship, is Wilbraham to old, do we need a plan B, is this player ..........

Leave it to Cotterill, he'll get it right.
