If you're missing the Toon already and cursing the breaks in fixtures, why not check out some lower/non-league local football that is still being played?

Of course there are many more clubs in action, I just couldn't be arsed to list the all. Grab yourself some mates, some beers and pop down to your local for a couple of cheap matches over the next few weeks, full of passion and laughs. Especially great for those who miss standing a few feet from the pitch and yelling in the linesman's ear. <ok>

Yeah. Although I usually work Saturdays, if I'm off and neither Toon or Blyth are playing I try to make it down to another local side. I plan on collecting as many different scarves as possible, that is my new years resolution.

So far I've just got Newcastle United, Blyth Spartans, Ashington and Whitley Bay but hopefully this time next year I'll have covered a bit more ground. Non-league clubs usually only charge a fiver for a scarf so it's a cool little souvenier whilst also helping the club finances.

At this level it really is the little things, the pies for the canteen, money to print programmes. etc. It's really needed!

yeah exactly mate, I help join in fundraisers for Hebburn now and then but being a season ticket holder and going to away games I don't really get the chance to go to any other local teams.
very nice idea with the scarf collecting <ok>

Going to see Brighton vs Notts County next week, other than that watching my local team get slaughtered, usually about 4 red cards a match so is good fun.
