So no british F1 drivers in the BBC sports personality competition this year which is understandable as none really set the world alight yet lets look at the other candidates: Andy Murray: - No Grand slams - ranked #4 in world - 5 minor titles Mark Cavendish: - won a stage at the tour de france - awarded green(??) jersy for best sprinter - won the world road race championship Darren Clarke: - Won the open... Alastair Cook: - Won the ashes - apart of the #1 test team in the world Luke Donald: - Won the PGA championship - #1 in the world Mo Farah: - Won the 5000m gold at the world athletics Dai Greene: - won the 400m Hurdles at the world athletics Amir Khan: - unified world welterweight champion Rory McIlroy: - won the US Open Andrew Strauss: - same as Alastair Cook... ------------------------------------------------------- Jenson Button: - won 3 grand prixs - finished 2nd in the world championship some of the above are as feathery as putting jenson in but would you swap Andy Murray who didnt really have a good season in Tennis to finish #4 with Jenson Button who did really well to finish #2 in F1?
Yes but the thing is to be on the shortlist Lewis or Jenson have to win the World Championship as shown in 08 and 09. In 07 I think it was the fact that Lewis was a rookie and had a brilliant first year that many thought he should be on the list. As for Murray I agree he shouldn't be on there but where is Jess Ennis?? Rebecca Adlington?? And many more women???
