No call-up for ShawX for the friendly vs Brazil. Is his England career over after just 12 mins? Thoughts please

    In short Yes!

There is some tough competition for his place and in real terms there is only ever going to 3 or 4 CB's going to the world cup. Even if Terry doesnt go (which I hope he doesnt) that leaves Cahill, Jag, Lescott, Smalling, Jones. Whilst on his day Shawx is as good as all of them, they play for "better/bigger" clubs, 2 are left footed (which gives more balance), 2 can play RB and 1 can play LB.

Add that to the fact that Shawx has been at the heart of a defence that has leaked 15 goals in the prem in the last 5! I thank you TP!

Recent form has kept him out. I Don't think he's played particularly badly himself, but just on looking at the stats, if I was Roy, I wouldn't have picked him either.
I'm sure he'll be back in it again, whether it's because we have another good run, or because he moves somewhere else, I don't know, but I'm sure we'll see Ryan in an England shirt again.

I just dont think he offers enough over the others and whilst playing for Stoke he will be looked at less favouably than say a United player.

I would pick Cahill over him on most days and would probably go with either Jag or Lescott because they are left footed.

    Well
Let's be honest guys in a way I feel sorry for Ryan but truth is...

All those picked before him and very good player's. Add to that he's not IMHO playing anywhere near his best right now. And IF he we're playing for Chelsea,Utd,Citeh
ALL these clubs have (better squads) hence Ryan could look fantastic at Old Trafford because Evans, Vigic and Co have far better protection. In short they ain't defening for 90 odd mins AWAY from home, Ryan and Huth usually are.

Just being realistic fella's it's NOT a negative post by me.

Think he looked a little out of his depth last time but he's still relatively young so all hope isn't gone.
