First game, first defeat... so we were hammered, hopefully it will just reinforce how much better we have to be in this league, as we know it's a marathon not a sprint - both Blackpool and Birmingham started off well last year and went down. Had we won 4-0 we wouldn't be presuming survival would we?
i think if the take over happens and we can buy some decent players mainly defenders yesterdays result will be but a memory
First game but our limitations have been laid bare for all to see. Before it was all just paper talk. Now have proved the doubters right, that's what hurts the most. And supposedly we had so much going for us as well, at least that's what warnock and jones would have us believe. Of course I'm 100% behind the team but we need to strengthen. Not the 2-3 players that Warnock is referring to, we need 4-5 and we need them quick. If the takeover means we can do this then happy days, otherwise we are absolutely fkd this season against the big sides. What a waste of an offseason.
I reminded myself several times that I was enjoying the match in the first half, a good contest that I think we shaded. Lets get in at 0-0 I thought - with every chance we could nick it 1-0......bang! they score a bit of a wonder goal, did we do much wrong in the build up to that goal? not much in my view, you just have to take those on the chin. The 2 goals that followed were nightmarish - only the last goal showed real weakness - but by then everyone connected with the R's were in tatters & the mood around the stadium had turned very sour, even my lad said he didn't want to watch anymore. To some extent the result was "one of those results" - do you remember us winning 4-1 at Old Trafford? "one of those results" Bolton were better than us, but not 4 goals better, it's now about the next few games & how we re-act, the takeover if there is one can only help.
Why should that hurt so much? I admit that the head in the sand crowd have driven me mad all summer but no-one gets satisfaction on seeing us get hammered. We're all fans after all.
We haven't all had our heads in the sand Swords. I think most of us agreed that we needed 2 full backs and a centre half. That was made all too obvious yesterday mate.
It sure felt like it over the last couple of months Col. Everyone barring Hoops Eternal and old Jim had us to stay up, a lot saying top eight etc.
Very true Roller, if we can get some players in we can do it. No doubt about it. I hope the takeover goes through.
