Today proved we don't have the depth in squad. :Zamora playing when he is obviously not fully fit, and is never gonna score the goals we need. On the bench: 03 Traore- defensively a bit of a liability. Arsenal fans also told me that when he signed 05 Ferdinand-should never have signed him, even Harry knows that now 07 Phillips-championship player at best 12 McCarthy-good goalie surprised he is willing to sit on the bench 15 Onuoha-has never lived up to his reputation at Man City 17 Mutch-been poor, still need to see more of him 23 Hoilett- a player i couldn't believe we signed. At Blackburn was superb and looked a future one to watch. Compete toilet for us. No doubt he will go elsewhere and be great. Santos although a good player a Tottenham fan told me he is to injury prone, and that seems the case. The oldies Dunne, Hill and Zamora (already mentioned) can't play game after game. Yun i actually have always rated him and think we miss him Been told Defoe is apparently defiantly coming, but i will wait and see if it is true.
Defoe is not the answer, put him in this team and there will be little difference. The midfield is unbalanced, as it was ALL last season and lacks creative quality and a proper 'destroyer'. The defence is suspect, as evident by the number of chances being created against us. If THOSE problems are not addressed we're toast...
I think you're being a bit harsh NorthLondon. That's as good a bench as a club of our size should realistically have IMO. I do think that we'd get more benefit from the wider group if we let Mutch and Philips go out on a month's loan each. They'll either get some confidence or put themselves in the shop window (I think the former but the latter is a backup). I know it weakens our immediate squad but then again, I'm not sure either of the two mentioned should be brought on until they are in better form.
If the players on the bench lived up to the ability they had at their previous clubs i would agree, but they don't unfortunately. Harry seemed to have no idea today who to put on to replace Zamora and took his time. We certainly don't have any striking options to put on at present that's for sure.
That might explain why he took so long to make a change. I was angry with him at the time but considering how Hoilett performed when he came on, maybe he was right to try and keep all the subs sat firmly on the bench where they could do little damage to the team.
Fairly deep in midfield, but they're all the same, neither attacking nor creative enough (though it looked like Fer actually wanted to do something with the ball today but he is also not a full-match kind of player short-attention span that he has) Not strong enough at the back or not enough options out wide AND defending Too narrow up top. Without Bobby we have no point man, and so we need another to run next to Charlie to hold up the ball Otherwise we've been playing the wrong formations all season, we really ought to look at 4-3-3 and make them all overlap and work around Charlie when OBZ isn't playing
